I know this subject has been losely covered before and at the time I wasn';t too interested in it.

However I am now and I can';t find the original thread.

Basically I';m looking for a gimbal option for my tbs discovery that I can fit without butchering my frame plates and that I can preferably utilise parts (motors etc) from my old rctimer gimbal.

I recall Jumpy had one for sale but I can';t remember the details and cant find the thread. :-(

I';m waiting on controller/motor delivery to build one of these.

Hi Rob,

If you look through some of my previous posts you will notice I';ve done lots and lots of work testing various different gimbals on the TBS. I';ve even designed my own aluminum one. I worked closely with Craig (Jumpy) testing all the 3D printed ones he threw my way and even combining different parts from different designs to work out the best combination. Craig does now sell his gimbal for around £40-50 which is well worth the money. You can use your 2212 rctimer gimbal motors and combined with an alexmos or martinez board, you';re away. I';ll go and take some photos of mine now and post them later this evening.

I am toying with getting myself a 3d printer,  and would love to be printing my own devices. But it';ll have to wait a bit longer yet. London property prices are killing me. :-(

In the mean time Steph, yours looks awesome! I';ve pm';d Craig for a bit more info on his unit. Is the one in your pics (thanks for those btw) the one that Craig is offering? I';m really keen to utilise my existing rctimer motors as they';re brand new and I have a spare (bought after a heavy landing slung underneath my hex).

Thanks for your replies guys (and gals) ;-)

Hi Rob,

Yeah, I know what you mean about the 3d printers, they do seem like really useful little things, but having seen some of the problems people are having whilst its all in its infancy, I think I will wait until the technology has improved a little. I think the gimbal I have is very similar if not exactly the same as what Craig is offering. That said as with all these things, they need a lot of tinkering and a lot of adjusting! Once that is done, how they look is almost cosmetic. As long as you have a strong arm which isn';t too flexible and decent motor mounts then you should be okay. Hope this helps.

I got myself a gimbal printed for the tbs finally. See pics below....

So far I';m chuffed with it. Needs a bit more tuning and could do with a less stiff imu wire (anyone know where I can source one from?) as the pitch sometimes struggles with the wire stiffness. Had a couple of heavy landings due to the extra weight giving me performance issues and its not damaged it as I was kind of expecting with 3d printed parts. So all good.

Get a 3S silicone balance cable extension. That';d work well for the IMU?
