Has anyone managed to tune one of these gimbals can you point me in the right direction of the software please

robshaw

I think they';re meant to work out of the box. Its not very clear but from what I gather they don';t advise trying to update/tune it.

Try downloading the BGC software and see if it will connect. If not try the alexmos software. Just Google search for them both.

Most of the ebay alloy gimbals use a hacked version of bgc 2.2
Any attempt to update it with a legit version usually bricks the controller....

Ive had one off a guy on this forum and its doing something sometimes it works some times it just judders. So far i have to plug it into my reciver then plug in battery then i can get some movement out of it. Theres a little button on the board what dose that do ive seen some videos of people just plugging in a 3s and away it goes this just isnt doing that. im new to gimbals sorry for all the questions jus wondered if it could just be reset and start again

Is the gopro in the correct place for balance? If it sits off balance at all you can sometimes get judder from the motors lacking torque.

They usually have alexmos 2.2 on them. They can';t be updated except with ';nulled';(hacked firmware) but thats ok because 2.2 works just fine. If you download the gui for 2.2 it will talk to that and you CAN of course tune it http://www.basecamelectronics.com/files/v10/SimpleBGC_GUI_2_2b2.zip. Unless it';s an older version, in which case you will need to find the gui for that.

OR

You can flash it with brugi fw, download the gui for that and go that way.(I like the alexmos better though).

Oh and the little button if pressed once quickly will calibrate the accelerometer, so if you find your camera is not level in the field you can press the button and you have about 4 seconds to hold the camera level and the gimbal will calibrate to that position.

All it is im going to take the guts out and put it in my printed mobius gimbal so im guessing it will have to be tuned also I dont want to use the tilt control as I only have a dx6i so no scroll just a switch why do I need to have 5v from reciver

JT

You don';t need to plug your rx into it, only if you want to use the tilt, my mate has tilt on a switch with his dx6i,  obviously it tilts down very fast when switched but is still handy

james111

Ive read you carnt update it which is ok with me I just want to tune it. ill have a look at getting the 2.2 software and have a play I can see some head scratching coming on

Try this first - load it up with your camera and make up the weight to that of a gopro, then power it up (ensuring motors are unobstructed and the gimbal is reasonably level and still). It should do a little jigging then settle level at which point move the gimbal around simulating flight and it should just work.

From memory (like a sieve) I think holding the little pushbutton down for a long press reboots the controller (starts it';s little jig over again) but don';t hold me to that, I can';t find the pdf I read it in now. When I tried it, it took a few disconnects and button pushes to get it working again, otherwise it appeared dead as a dodo.

Also, if you get the software as advised, you can configure what the button presses do but I would first make sure it';s behaving as expected before messing with settings. If you do, make sure you screencap the defaults (all pages) first.

Dose it matter about the weight so much or is it just more to do with the balancing surely less weight would help the motors gain a little more torque by not having to move as much weight about

Well, my experience differs from what you';re reporting so I tailored my suggestion to yours. No, weight isn';t strictly necessary (it worked on mine first try but goofed up on a later power-up) but why not try it and see if your non-working issue is the same? From my understanding, balancing the correct weight reduces the torque required to level an otherwise unbalanced weight (even the weight of the gimbal itself).

I completely understand what your saying just got to have a mess and see what happens totally new to gimbals and up for the challenge probably should of started with a alexmos as theres alot more info out there on them
