went down the beach with the quad. took off
got it up to 60-70ish feet heard an odd noise which i think was the gps coming off its stand the quad went to the side then the motors cut out the quad fell about 30metres out to sea with a gopro 3 black attached. quite depressing but im slowly getting over it

nope. atleast it replaceable and no one got hurt. im more annoyed at loosing the gopro than the quad

Ouch  that';s a unfortunate accident.

It';s a long shot but will you go out at low tide? it also may well wash up in a day or two.

the next low tide is 1:30am the tide was just starting to come back in when it crashed. ill be working  until sunday

im hoping someone will find it and put somthing on facebook  long shot i know

yes it was at least its still usable if its found

I feel your pain, been there and done that.

Lost a tricopter with new FPV gear on it, the wind took hold of it, the kk2 board gyros went nuts and it dropped sideways into the drink.
I got a first person view of it going in, too bad the SD card was never found, or the tricopter for that matter.

About 3 to 4 weeks before I could see the funny side of it, but it was a hard lesson learned, if the forecast looks bad, it probably will be, don';t fly.

Now when I look back at it, I think how stupid I was for trying FPV in strong wind and trying it near the sea.

Thats pants deano !! Sorry to hear of your quads demise... I know its no consolation and shutting the door after the horse has bolted and all that but if flying over or near water a few inches of foam draft extruder mounted somewhere on the frame has a fantastic level of beoyancy and will usually save the day !!! I fit it to all my camera platforms undercarriage and you can safely land on water with it ....

ive got a spare quad a clone f450 frame. im gutted it was the genuine dji f330 quad i lost

Sympathies my friend. My fully-loaded (except for a tracker) Y6 took off on it';s own last week, never to be seen by me again.  trying to decide on replacing it at the moment but the cost.....

Hope you do get lucky, never say never. But definitely feeling your pain there mate. 

This all reminds me that I must make up some floatation just in case I ever find myself on an FPV mission near water (as I did at Teston bridge last year!).  Thats this week';s task then.

From what I';ve heard there discontinuing the f330 so I might  get another to make myself feel better. I lime the small size easier to carry around on walks
