Had my first full fpv flight yesterday  ::)
Everything performed flawlessly, though I have to admit the most daunting part was taking off  :sweating:

I have the first flight recorded on my gopro, just need to figure out how to post it.
It was nothing special from a spectator view, but I was chuffed to buggery.
Two flights los and two with the goggles in total, just need a gimbal for the gopro to smooth the filming out.
No jello though, which surprised me as the gopro was hard mounted in its case.
Looks like all the time balancing the graupners paid off

Good man, you will see the world in whole new way, a big WELL DONE that man ~~
I use Gopro studio for vid work as it';s free off the Gopro site and works well.
I';ve never taken off in FPV mode, I take off and place the quad at 5 feet and put on my goggles and get comfy. Just the way I roll, not right not wrong just the way I feel safe.

Now lets have a look at this vid

Congratulations to another new FPV';er ~~  It truly is an amazing experience.

Like @mutley2 I also tend not to take off in FPV mode, but get it airborne, stick it in GPS (Loiter) while I slip down the goggles and then spend the next 6 minutes grinning like a village idiot ::)  Absolutely love it!

Thanks guys, yes it';s pucker time taking off.
Especially when the disco drops a front arm slightly as it gets light.
I need to have a play and see why it';s not just lifting level.
I have upped the motor idle speed tonight, just need to try again.
I may try taking off in attitude rather than gps and see how that feels.

Nice one RA.  As Mutley says, it';s not compulsory to take-off with goggles on!  In fact, I rarely do.  Having said that, I can think of a scenario when it would be best, and that';s if you want to capture a takeoff and fast moving forward clip.  If you have to faff around to putting your goggles on after lift off, it';s not going to happen!
As I say, my usual procedure is, pre flight check + GPS warm up (2 mins), lift off, move multi away about ten feet or so, hover @ 10 ft or so whilst putting on gogg';s, then away!

It';s always best to get a routine with these things, as it';s surprising how much stuff you need to remember to fly successfully.  If you haven';t flown for a while, familiarise yourself with the control switches, RTH IOC etc, set countdown timer on.  Taking your time like this forces your brain to go over stuff mentally, and it';s easy to forget and get into a panic later.  ~~

For me I prefer to take off with the goggles on already.  I fly in manual mode so taking off this way I get my throttle in the right position to hover.  If I take off in GPS mode and hover while I put the goggles on its scary when you switch to manual.  I try and compensate now by increasing the throttle in GPS mode then switching to manual, just takes longer for me to feel comfortable this way.

Having flown heli';s for quite some time pre flight checks and certain procedures are second nature.
I was quite impressed with the basic osd from the tbs core. Flight time ,voltage and cap usuage was enough.
