Watch Channel 4 on this coming Thursday, 27th Feb at 9pm.
The programme, "The storm that stole Christmas", was produced by an independent company about the UK flooding
They saw my video of the Somerset flood on Youtube. They contacted me & asked if they could use some of the footage. I have agreed...
They might or might not use any, but I am looking forward to watching the programme anyway.

Let me nip it in the bud the netcops come screaming at me for being unlicensed:  ::)
  * They contacted me, I did not tout for business
  * I am not being paid nor wanting credits.

My video is here:

I hope you got the traffic light at 1:40 to sign a waiver...

if they';re going to be using a clip of your video i';d be wanting a credit of some sort at least, they will be making money from your video.

Nub,  Donald is not a professional photographer '; ie caa registered/ insurred etc etc .'; so he cant claim nor accept payment nor get credits hence why he stated he';s not interested in the above.

i can understand the cash but would have thought some sort of credit would have been okies, a bit much that.

Yes, I guess it is nice to have some credits but I wanted to keep ant complete arms length so that I was acting within the law.

On another matter, I was the chief photographer for an aircraft manufacturer who is no longer in business. I have some of my air to air photos on my website.I have been asked by a historian for permission to add several into a book he is writing about the airfield I was based at. Yes, I will get credits

you know something doesn';t seem quite right with that, though its not right for you to make any money from your own footage unless your qualified but its ok for someone else too?

pretty witty that.

I bet a lot of production companies are revelling in all that ';free footage'; that abounds out there!

Seriously though, I think we all need to know ';definitively';, if we could be credited for our efforts (and I mean in the non monetary sense).  I only pick up what I read on this (and other similar forums).  Last piece of CAA ';law'; I read on here mentioned, what was it "not to be a penny richer from it" or some such??  It was explained as neither a penny in money nor goods/services.

So are we to take it to mean a mention of our name?  (if we want it mentioned of course!).
From a point of ';law';.

Andy

P.s I mention this as it';s come to my attention that the warden of a church I recently photographed from the air may want to use an image for their parish magazine.  I obviously don';t want to end up breaking any laws unwittingly.

Opto-Mystic

I agree, this is a very grey area. Yes, it is always nice to get a credit but in the case of the programme on Thursday, I guess my real concern was not upsetting CAA. That said, I want to always act within the law. I am too long in the tooth (what tooth?) to start up professionally. I am having too much fun (?) wrecking my quad!

I sincerely hope that I don';t upset anyone with this:
The real reason I went to great lengths to point out the no pay/credits, is that I detest the ';superior, holier than thou net cops!'; Who, at noting the slightest indiscretion by someone (accidental or intentional) take great delight in pointing out tactlessly  & publicly the errors thereby embarrassing and humiliating the transgressor.

I guess that by saying the above, that puts me in the net cop';s door.  :help:

Wireless

You';ve gone about this in exactly the right way. Offered them your footage with no benefit in kind to yourself which is legit and by-the-book. I';d be getting qualified and offering them commercial work...!

Thanks Wireless, but I didn';t offer them the footage, they asked for it. That makes the difference between breaking the law and keeping on the right side.

However I do understand your sentiment & thanks for it...

Let';s get it right! It is on tonight Thursday 27th... Ch 4
I very much doubt if they will use the footage because since they a contacted me, the storms continued for some weeks and other places got a battering. I am sure that more dramatic footage will be included.

Still, it will make an interesting documentary

will look out for your aerial pics/vid on the ch4 show at 9pm tonight  ~~  probably be edited into the prog someplace even if its a couple of seconds worth.  Have you set your Betamax video recorder up to record this (maybe) magnificent event?

I see from the listing, the programme is now doubled in length - Tonight is part1  of 2...

Ice-creams will be served during the interval...

Fresh out of tutti- fruties, sorry

The program ended with the sequences that were shot of same bridge and expanse as I shot mine with the UAV. Maybe ther will show mine in the second episode

However, it was a fascinating programme - there were some incredibly dramatic sequences of massive waves breaking...  Looking forward to the next one

I watched it tonight - it wasn';t overly sensationalist like some can be, and I actually learned a thing or two about the two major air streams (didn';t know too much about the equatorial one and its ability to reverse direction).

Those airline pilots deserve every single penny they earn, and then some! Those landing sequences were just plain mental.  Kudos to the lot of them.
