Massive thanks go to Gav for repairing & testing my broken GPS unit. Fantastic work :bravo:

Having to scratch my head to figure out how the fabricate a new housing, I searched my over stuffed garage fo ideas (it has taken 34 years to pack it with all sorts of goodies that ';might'; come in useful one day...)

I found a Ford aerosol paint can top that was perfect diameter to house the pcb board. Further, inside the lid was a clipped in cup containing a tiny paint brush. I had 3 of these cans  ~~

I unclipped two of the cups and cut a suitable slot in the side to accommodate the cable. I very carefully cut some very thin polystyrene pads to protect the board from stresses and placed it on a small cushion of soft, thin foam rubber inside of the cup. Placed another cup upside down with similar foam and polystyrene and then inserted that assembly into a cut down lid - Looked absolutely good...

I also just happened to have the cap from another paint tin that my new assembly fitted in, thus reinforcing the base for mounting on the holder

I had to drill out the old broken carbon fibre from the stork so as to retrieve the metal fittings. I Had some 5mmcarbon rod to hand so I drilled the bottom fitting to 5mm, but the top fitting looked a bit too thin to drill out so I whittled the carbon rod to fit...

Quick question:
What is the standard length of the carbon rod on the original DJI puck?

oh yeah those spray paint lids work a treat don';t they.  Nothing like a bit of garage engineering improvisation.  Neat work!

cheers

@ Gav: I have junk goodies in my garage that have been there over 30 years. Last year I had to replace a manhole cover in our drive. Old manhole was imperial... New one = Metric and was smaller than the hole! Bummer. Rummaged in my goody store garage and found a lorry back axle. Cut it in half, concreted into place. Fitted nice new manhole cover, a bag of cold mix tarmac - job done.

That solved two problems: (a) the manhole cover  & (b) downsized the rubbish goody stock in the garage. The only downside is that I no longer have access to my lorry axle... Ah well, I might find another one, one day...

@ Philtrum ... Although my DIY version was very satisfying to resolve and make,  had I known about a printed one, I would have ordered one...
