Hi all... I am a little bit dissappointed with my gopro expieriences to date. Having bought my first one about six months ago i have had nothing but irritating problems, first one was the fact none of my computers will recognise the camera as an external drive which means i always have to remove the SD card and put it in a seperate card reader, my first camera just went up in smoke one day which i have to say was quickly replaced under warranty by gopro in less tha a week. Also have had many problems charging them with batteries being fully discharged on a few occasions when put on charge, today i spent a very long session filming some local beauty spots only to find all the files were corrupt and totally useless so will have to go and do it all again. All in all i think for the money they really not a terribly reliable bit of kit. Has anyone else had these sort of problems ????

All the best rob

Ive had mine nearly 3 years .... only issues have been the lack of use and getting the batteries to take a charge , not been an issue since I realised what it was , as I tend to keep on top of it now and also its probably getting used more, mines been used on a kayak stuck off the side on a boom and in a rally car bolted to the cage so seen its fair share of action, now either Im lucky or you have been unlucky

will replace it when it gives up they can keep their upgrades  :crossfingers:

I use a Hero3 Black and my only issues to date are batteries not lasting anything like the time they claim and the audio sometimes being out of sync with the image.

Try different USB cable - I have noticed, not just with GoPro, that some USB cables work fine on some kit but not on others.

I always take the chip out of my cameras and use a USB3 card reader - Downloads data much, much faster (as long as the computer has USB3  ;)

Some kit, like the older Motorola phones were supplied with a USB cable that had a chip inside. You couldn';t charge the phone with any other cable & the Motorola cable wouldn';t work with many other items... I wonder if you have a ';weird'; cable?

Yeah, does sound like the cable, as it';s the same on different PC';s?

I did have plenty of teething problems with my Hero 3 (white) in the early days, just after they were released.  I sent it back to GoPro in the end, and they admitted faulty hardware and fixed/replaced it.  Also, I don';t think they had finished testing the concept before it was released, as there were many firmware updates in a few months, one in particular to allow the WiFi access through an IOS app.
Ironically, shortly after I got the replacement, I dunked it in the local brook (uncased) but it still works fine.  As for battery life, I rarely fly for more than an hour or so at a stretch, so is never an issue, and spare batteries are ten a penny off ebay!

My Wifi Remote didn';t charge when I first got it, but posted it off to them and replaced quickly.

It didn';t like it when I dropped it 20m from the air, corrupting the sd card, but since then not had a problem

Quotethe audio sometimes being out of sync with the image

The only time I have experienced this is when the computer is too slow to play the mahoosive video files!

Really like the fact you can plug in a custom usb cable to get video out as well, works really nicely with my video transmitter!

I had a few reliability issues and connection to the PC when I first got my GoPro Hero 3 Black edition but then most was cured by updating the camera to the latest firmware. I still can not drag >1Gb files from the camera via USB as the GoPro crashes and has to have the battery removed to get it working again, this happens on all PC';s I use (XP, Win 7, Win8, Win8.1 32/64bit) but its not an issue as I remove the card anyway as its much faster reading the card inside a card adapter to USB  ~~

Cheers for the input peeps !!! I have tried several different USB leads now and no matter what the computer will not recognise the camera !!! Seems from the other comments that the ole gopro is a bit of a pup for the money. I still think they are massively overpriced !!! Will deffo be looking at other alternatives when i need more cams. Oh i have been testing a sony qx10 with mixed results !!! Suffers really bad jello which i just cant cure !!! Takes great stills though and the wifi works at a reasonable range...
