Zenmuse Fail problem

As mentioned in my other post, before my apparent sort of flyaway but come home issue, my Zenmuse gave up the ghost for a short while. (The supplier said it resets when put under too much angle or strain).

So I went out in the almost calm weather yesterday morning and filmed a local building roof that had been torn off. Before anyone jumps in, it was for the building owner, no charge, and only the builder and us were there... and we didn';t send it to the BBC!  ::)

So anyone got any idea why this might happen? You can see that it resets itself after ten seconds or so, but as it was only hovering in the first place, what can cause it to do this? Of course, when it happened I did keep my fingers crossed with one of them on the bat-switch in anticipation of the flyaway, but it stayed and hovered luckily.

I suspect how it checks for too much angle or strain is by measuring current supplied to the motors (although I';ve no idea for sure that that will be the case). For that reason, my best guess is that your roll motor could be demanding too much current for some unknown reason, or the measurement of the current is incorrect, causing the protection mode to kick in? Just thinking aloud... never had a problem like that with my gimbal, and never used a zenmuse, so can';t really add much beyond that I';m afraid!

Richard, as I said before check the firmware version.. the old version had a tendency to do that..

Also the Zenmuse does not like having any filters on the camera .. as it upsets balance.. in case u have a protector on it.

If it is the latest version. ..   and you don';t have a lens protector then I suspect a faulty motor...

Sorry Craig, I thought I replied before.

Latest firmware and no filter.  :-/

I think the gimbal must have a fault then Richard.. as mine does not do that on my Y6..  and I chuck it about a fair bit

Looks like its faulty i';ve seen some test videos of zenmuse gimbals where someone shows how much pressure on the gimbal itself causes it to reset it certainly should not do that. Just a thought is it worth re-flashing te firm ware on it ?

Yeah, I have sent the video off to BYOD. The issue there is that this is a new gimbal they swapped for me because the last one sloped when it was mean to be level.

Seems there may be a common denominator here lol
