Spotted this looks a bit short of parts

http://www.banggood.com/DIY-5_8G-200mW-FPV-Set-For-WLtoys-V262-RC-Quadcopter-p-81970.html

Could someone with a bit of knowledge shine a light on what's required caps etc to make this a viable system. I've got most of the parts. But non of the insight.

it looks like all the required parts are there , you could add some capacitors to smooth out the power supplies and isolate the video but essentially its all there and will work as is.

However , those  voltage regulators are going to get stinking hot and most probably fail + you can build a better quality one for less

OK Got a RX5808, a screen and a TX5823-101016 sitting in the draw. What else do I need? Weight and cost being a priority.

Looks easy to build, made easier if the VTx, camera and VRx have wide operating voltage requirements, then the regulators won';t be needed and you could just add capacitors to smooth the input voltage.

The VRx and monitor can be powered by a 2s or 3s liPo, as long as the VRx and monitor can operate between 6 ~ 12v.

Similar story with the VTx, you could patch it into the main flight battery to save weight, but you';ll loose flight time, or you could put a small 2s on to power the VTx and camera.
Why use 4 motors when you can use 6?

Manuals below.

To swap channels you need these , just solder one side directly onto the case and the 1/2/3 pins onto the channel changer bits on the tx/rx boards :-

To smooth the power supplies and isolate the tx video ( dont isolate the rx video it causes lines on the monitor):-

connector for fitting aerials:-

To get the right voltages ( 3.3v transmitter and 5v receiver)

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=31618

I do my ones slightly different to this as I had different bits lying about. I use a 5v ubec on my plane to power tx + osd + keychain camera , my tx has its own 3.3v linear voltage regulator sitting under it, as its only going from 5v to 3.3v it doesn';t get too hot.

Yee Gods

I thought it was going to take weeks to get to this stage.

I take my hat off to you sir, thanks for the incredibly prompt exchange of information
.
Thanks again.

no worries , garage is too cold anyway to do much else.

I also put a little 5v led on them to see that they';re getting power.

ps that sma plug might be the wrong one , i think the usual ones are rp sma .
