Sounds like he';s gone a bit mental. That SpaceX story is very bad, incredibly unprofessional.

I think until ALL the FACTS are know we should reserve judgement, his contract with dji is not public knowledge therfore his actions may or may not be justified!

Colin Guinn in his interviews seemed like such a forward thinking guy. I';m very surprised.

I think the US judiciary are a bit gung ho with implementing such injunctions against sales, thereby quite likely sending small businesses into ruination while the litigants fight it out.  Such collateral damage is not good and should be resisted at all costs.  Surely it would be simpler to compel all of DJi';s outlets to keep sales ledger and thus assess any settlement on the basis of the value of sales made in the USA.  That way minimising or eliminating altogether any such collateral damage.

As to Colin';s actual case ... he may have a valid claim indeed. It all depends on what he contract entitled him to.  Time in the courtroom will reveal that.

Press release from DJI

Quote

DJI Product and Service Availability in North America

January 28, 2014

We would like to clarify that a recent temporary injunction limiting DJI's ability to work with selected dealers in North America does not prevent these dealers from providing sales and support of DJI products to any of their customers, nor does it prevent dealers not identified in the temporary injunction from conducting normal business operations.

This legal action was taken by a former associate for issues linked to his recent departure from DJI. We are confident that the matter will be resolved soon.

DJI is a global firm and we are continuing to provide creators and innovators with first-class products and customer service support that has been the core of our business since our firm was established in 2006.

We are incredibly grateful for the support that we have received from our customers and will continue helping our customers in North America and beyond push forward the future of possible.

Sounds like he';s gone a bit mental. That SpaceX story is very bad, incredibly unprofessional.

If even half the stuff reported on in that spaceX story is true - he really has lost it.

Standing up for your rights commercially is one thing. Lying to NASA and the american government about top secret security related stuff - an entirely different kettle of fish.

Quote from: Wendell AdkinsHaving been issued security badges to the highly classified SpaceX Remote Proving Grounds Compound outside of Waco Texas, Guinn's group was asked to return them as they tried to leave the heavily guarded grounds. In response, Guinn informed the guards the badges had already been turned in and was allowed to drive off.

Suspicious, the guards checked their security camera footage and clearly saw Guinn round up the security badges from his group, conceal them in his vehicle, then lie to the guards about what had happened to them. However, by that time Guinn and his group were almost back to Austin.

Quote from: Wendell AdkinsStill worse, background checks on Guinn's group revealed one of the "friends" he brought along was a Russian national that Guinn had falsely represented as a US citizen -- another direct violation of the security protocols in place at SpaceX.
As of this posting, an investigation is still under way. As for Guinn and his group, it looks like their career in security related jobs might be over –- unless it's guarding the local mall after it closes.

Quotes taken from a post made by some guy on a forum here http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/flying-cameras/517675-rocket-test.html#post1807818

Interesting stuff - although i do tend to agree that we should avoid jumping to conclusions until all the facts have come out - it doesn';t look good.

Well if what Guinn has put forward is the truth (have to remember it may not be as there are always two sides to every story) then DJI sound like a rather unsavoury company, I may be glad that I';ve not spent any significant money on their products.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out

Having worked for two Chinese companies (their UK offices) I can say that there is a very different culture that I found unpleasant (bdithbof these companies regularly sacked employees and magically their replacements where friends of the family that had just happened to be needing a new job)

I know this is a generalisation but I have friends with similar tales

Have had my joys with both buy the Chinese companies are spectacularly bad.

I once had to climeb out of the office window when the manager locked me in because I was going to the toilet too often for his liking (I had a kidney infection at the time)

I handed in my notice the following day

It really was the worst place I ever worked and I have worked in some bad places (McCains the frozen potato product factory sorting faulty hash browns or Schipol airport washing dishes, or making breeze blocks where all better jobs)
