I';ve also been working at another idea for a stable camera platform that is also ';unconventional';, recently having seen some Youtube showing the Mantis I';ve decided to build something on the lines of that but with all arms the same!
I will come in Quad and hex format, I';ve only done some 2D layouts at the moment to give me the guidelines for my 3D model, here it is:
There has a massive amount of sketching and doodling been done and like my other ';Odd copter'; I think it will be interesting to see how it performs!
Initially I will build the Quad with Sunnysky motors and a KK2 FC but if things go well it will most likely be a Naza lite + GPS.

I thought about something like that as well, I look forward to seeing how you get on with this.  It will def look different. ~~

it';s very interesting, one of the biggest things to decide is where to put the fc and everything else - instinct tells me the fc should be near the same level as the motors and everything else as low down as possible; that';s my plan so far plus I might look at the idea of suspending the fc on a plate connected to the main frame by o rings....dooooh my head hurts!!!

I';ve stalled on this a bit because I';m not sure of the best way to make the arms and keep them strong - without making them from wood or aluminium and bending them a joint introduces too much of a chance of a weakness; may be a good idea to have that sort of a weakness but it mustn';t fall apart when you don';t want it to - so caution and deep thought in progress.

Topic locked on grounds that my design criteria have made the project name inappropriate - the practicalities of doing what I wanted the way I originally thought were too complex to make it a viable proposition. I likes the idea of what it would look like but to get it like that was fraught with issues; this will be evolved now to ';Upside down copter'; in the near future.
