Can anyone recommend a proven yet reasonably priced (well, cheap preferably) gimbal that accepts standard camera mounts? ... as it';s not gone unnoticed the majority are tailored for gopro.

You get what you pay for with gimbals.. I have learned the hard way..

What type of camera are you looking to use .. ?  and what controller ?

Have a look at GoodLuckBuy.com  they have the best selection of gimbals..     the ali ones tend to be heavy.. so carbon is my first choice..  I dont like the ones that hang from one side of the motor bearing.. thats ok for gopro.. but not anything heavier..

I just bought the alien quad with ptz gimbal with servos for a go pro from GLB off ebay. I thought that at 36 quid i really could not really fail. I will post my findings when i receive it. If anyone has any reccomendations on best practice with this set up that would be ace. I was hoping to be able use it straight off with the apm 2.5...good luck with your choice!

Hardware? sure, I got hardware!

I';ve currently got a basic HD camcorder that I';d like to try. It';s not heavy but it wouldn';t fit a gopro mount, I';m sure. I';m not looking for the very best as I';ve seen some scarey prices.

As for the controller, again I';m looking for recommendations.

oh, if it matters I forgot to mention, it';s to be attached to my F550. And from looking at the offerings, am thinking maybe I should go for the gopro option too.
