It seems like alexmoss  brushles gimbals   are the  way  to go :)
So I  asked   my  mate   to make  one  for  me.
I  wanted  something very minimalistic so that I could mount  it to my HT-FPV quad.
HT-FPV  is  similar to TBS Discovery  and  I  did not  want to  use  any landing gear, I just  wanted the  gimbal  to be at the
very front of  the  quad.

104g with 2 motors;

Here  how  it looks  now:

Now the  only thing I need  is  the  controller...

Very nice look forward to seeing it in use  ~~

I jus  ordered  a controller , but  I guess I  wont receive  it  before  Easter...

I can see how you will adjust left to right and up and down but how are you going to adjust back and forward to get the camera c of g correct?

Well  I guess I should not have  a  problems here . Ive  seen not very well balanced gimbals on those main axis  and  they  worked just  fine.
Time will show:)

RS, Your gimbal looks simple and elegant.  Nice job.  If you ever share the plans to replicate your gimbal, I';d love to get one too.

I ve  got good news and  bad  news...
Good is  that  I power up and tested my gimbal.
Bad news  - I managed  to shorten some  pins on my  FC,  so  I will not  be  able to  test  it  in flight until I receive  new one  ;/

Here  is test video

The  gimbal still needs some  tweaking

Other than the foam under the gopro do you have vibration damping built in else where? or have you just put a lot of time into balancing the props and motors ?

Hi Nice and simple, the way I like them... from my experience, you will need a lot of power from the roll motor. Since this brushless system is not a powerful setup, the wash of the props is usually enough to make the roll axis drop on the motor';s side ( propwash has mor grip o the larger motor surface.

I make my own quads and tris and this is what I had to do, a larger spread between the front motors. So my diy quads have almost the same geometry as the tbs Discovery but frot motors have 2 extra inches apart... will be testig tomorrow if the rain can stop... it';s been raining so much lately, I';ve been thinking on makig an amphibian tricopter !!!

No, no more damping.
And I did not spend  a lot  of  time  balancing the  props. It took  me  ~ 20-30min
The   frame  itself  is  quite   good and Graupner  props really  help  to achieve the  result .
I  did not  have   any  vibration  problems before installing the  gimbal, even though  the  gopro  was  sitting  on a  frame  on a  piece  of   velcro

and i';m still waiting for a tested-to-be-good gimbal :beer2:

No more testings   for  some  time  now as  I have  fried  my  controller..( mixed polarity)
Alex said  it  has a protection  but it does not work while USB is  connected..

Luckily I know a guy who just  started making similar  controllers, but 3axis  instead  2
(Im sure you have  already hear  about  it.)
I hope  to  get  it  in a  few weeks  time

I see this 2 axis brushless gimbal for gopro hero 3 looks good

http://www.oomodel.com/gopro-brushless-gimbal-with-gyro-tl68a00-tarot-2-axis-camera-mou-p-65534.html

not made up my mind yet, if anybody could give me some suggestions :waiting:

RS

Looks  good, but I didn';t see  its  weight..
Might  be  on a  heavy side, but  if your copter  is  capable of  lifting  extra ~200gr its should  be ok

Smeagol

I was very impressed with the testing vid, considering it only appeared to be supported at one end (unless I am mistaken) it was pretty stable.
