Looking for a DSLR Gimbal.

Hi all, I';m looking for a fair to good (ie cheapish) gimbal able to carry a DSLR camera.

Any ideas on what to go for and what my price range should be?
Should I go for a Brushless gimbal?
Is it also best to go for a separate gimbal controller?

I spent a lot of time looking for a good budget DSLR gimbal, and eventually settled on the CM301 from RCTimer.

It';s a clone of the Cinestar and is very well built. You can swap and change parts to a genuine Cinestar.

It';s servo controlled, and I';ve only every controlled it from my WKM, rather than have a seperate gimbal controller.

RCTimer have said on their website for a while that they are making a brushless 2 axis version of it, although I haven';t checked if it';s available to order yet.

I';m going to sell my CM301 when they decide to start selling it, or I might possibly look at self converting it to brushless with another Martinez board.

You are looking around the £400 mark from RCTimer for the CM301 which includes new landing legs.

Have you just been using it as a 2 axis rather than 3 axis? Or does Wookong control 3 axis?

I removed the 3-rd axis servo (to save weight) as a) I had no way of controlling it and b) if I need to yaw, I';ll yaw the whole thing.  If you have a dedicated camera operator and are doing video, then maybe I could see a use for it, but I simply removed the servo and locked off the 3rd axis.  You will need a pretty hefty hexa to lift it and the camera.  I am getting 7 mins on 10,000mah 4S and coming down around the 70-80% battery used mark.

My hex is all working now :)

The problem was that I had the cable going from Naza-U to RX was in the wrong spot! I need a good slapping!!

My cheapo gimbal is also now working so expect to see some more amateur flight vids as soon as the wind drops :)
