Help with Gimbal set-up, APM2.5

The UBEC I needed to set-up my gimbal arrived today so I got to work and after tidying up some wiring and installing an Attopilot I connected the signal pins to the APM and power to the UBEC.  All well and good so far.

But I cannot for the life of me figure out the gimbal set up page settings!  What looked to be a very simple set-up has now got me pulling my hair out. :banghead:

Firstly both servos are constantly twitching when active. But the bit that';s confusing me the most is how I set the level positions and how to configure the maximum servo travel settings?  I can';t get my head around them. The gimbal has about +50º and -50º of movement in tilt and roll but it doesn';t seem to want to travel more than half that when it';s auto-levelling in roll and in tilt it seems to tilt more when the quad pitches down.

Currently the angle limits are set at 45º.

Any help much appreciated!

Think I';ve finally got my head around it now. It still pulses a bit when the quad is powered on but it';s doing a great job when flying and I';m delighted.

Got one of the pots on the 9XR set to control the tilt and a switch configured to enable/disable that.  The extra weight doesn';t seem to have affected the performance at all, moved the battery back on the rails to compensate and flying time has dropped by a minute or so but I';m very pleased.

Of course, now I have this working I';m now looking at brushless. I think I have a problem!!
