Another reason not to like..............

Its a well known fact that I don't think much of Spektrum radio, though I have currently a DX9, two DX7 and a dual DSMX/DSM2 DFX6i.

I also have a chinese food container filled with Spektrum receivers.

Yesterday I started looking at this collection with a view to passing on stuff inc a couple of quads to one of my now old enough grandsons.  He's been running a couple of Sims using an XBox controller and before COVID we had flown my Inductrix and E011 fleet together, he's quite competent.

Sorted out the DX6i, an Inductrix, a 90mm Inductrix FPV Plus+, a 150, and a 250.  Should do for starters.    The 150 and the 250 are currently wired PPM and on FlySky.



Now, OK these recievers all came to me with planes or helicopters I have been given or bought at minimal cost, and are not the VERY latest models, but most are by no means old and there's fifteen of them, but yet seemingly not ONE of them can output PPM or SBUS.

The 150 and 250 fc might take DSM - I seem to remember that in the 'old' days as they needed 3.3v didn't they?
If FlySky had some good small rx then that might be better :-)

personally I invariably opt for flysky compatible RX's,  the choice of types, sizes, ranges, signal strengths, protocols and general flexibility has made my life so much easier on many occasions, builds and designs, plus to date they've never failed me (looks about for some wood to touch).

their tiny little RX2a's are an absolute godsend on micro/cramped builds

Well, I have had a very frustrating day.

Tried to get a Tiny7 (DSM2) working again to put onto the DX6i. Would not bind to DX6i OR DX9 for ages, eventually bound to the DX9, flew it around, still would not bind to DX6i.

Had just bound the sim dongle so binding working.  Tried both Auto (2/X)) and forced DSM2.

At thi point the quad lights were OK but the VRX lights stopped (battery O) Gave up!

Went to original Inductrix, flew on DX9, though motors weak. Have good ones but not about to change them till I know it works from the DX6i.

Did it?              NO. Also unable to bind.  But bound two indoor planes OK as test.


Following bind in manual, set correctly. No bind.  The quad dates from the same era as the DX6i, how can they not work!!

Bound back to DX9 straight away, works again......................  WTF..................


  


I cannot pass on my FlySky or my FrSky, its a dual DX6i or a DX7, period.
