snapped my 5in quad the other day, well just the top plate
its a qav220 clone
some mates setup a track and there was a nice long straight followed by a hairpin turn, took it way to quick, make it through the gate but managed to clip a flag and took a tumble

so whats a good frame
i like a bit of cruising/freestyle and going around tracks
more of a park basher
im no pro at freestyle or racing, just like to have fun

armattan mongoose looks good and decent price, anything else in that range
will be using 2205 2300kv motors, 30a esc, 1500mah 4s, separate pdb and fc from my old quad

yama

check out Sabotage RC from armattan same quality carbon fiber but cheaper prices.

I bought the Dingo 6" frame really good. most of their frames have interchangeable arms to go 4 - 5 -6 -7"

I just bought a dingo 6 and am waiting for it to arrive. It’s also probably worth mentioning they aren’t charging shipping at the moment yarrrrr

recently lost my dingo 6  :banghead: still on a search and rescue 4 days later....

Update
(woohoo found the dingo search and rescue with the 3DR SOLO success ~~ i am always surprised how these things survive being left in the rain.....)

Armattan mongoose with 4mm arms is my choice of frame at the moment, the 3mm arms a bit weak for my liking. i broke 3 in one day as the track we were flying was setup on rather soild grass/mud.
Point and click.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Cheredanine

Assume we are on a budget here which rules out classics like chameleon, and alien/reverb

Don’t get too hung up on 4mm vs 5mm, there are all sorts of factors which are just as important such as width of arm (4mm arm has 33% more material than 3mm ONLY if they are the same width)
Weight of the quad, (the forces are dirctly proportional to the weight or mass if you really wanna be picky) etc etc

I would suggest you take a look at THuG frames, they are mid priced and have a damn good reputation for durability as well as being made in the UK
I would seriously consider:

Would a chameleon be ok on emax 2205 2300kv motors with dal5040c?
I didnt want to buy new motors yet. Just transfer the guts from the broken quad

It depends what you mean by ok mate, for 80% or so of Pilots it would be fine, I suspect on somewhere like rotorbuilds you can fly plenty with that setup.
The top end pilot will complain about efficiency due to prop load vs torque, as well as a lack of top end and acceleration. But most wont.
If a cammy is in your budget then I would say do it

Jakalas

The Armattan Chameleon, Chameleon Ti or Rooster is a good choice. Not completely ideal for racing, although I recall you are more into Freestyle.

With the above mentioned Aramattan frames you have a lifetime warranty, so if you break anything you simply put in a claim, pay a flat rate shipping charge of $5 (£3.90) and they send the new part out to you. Shipping usually takes about 5 business days.

Moved over from my QAV210 a while ago and it's been trans formative having the peace of mind that if you break something (frame wise of course) that it will be covered by the warranty.

Cheredanine's other options listed are very good if you are not drawn to the Armattan teat.

went for the mongoose in the end, same price as the sabotageRC frame as its armattans budget frame

still want a chameleon but will save up and build it with some decent 2306 motors
