Turnigy Evolution binding?

I am running fw 0.09 30th oct 2017. Which seems to be latest on Hobby King site.
The problem is that when you watch all the youtube vids they say don't worry about 5 model memory as you can bind an many rx as you like as they are not attached to a model memory.
So I bound 4 rx all when in model memory 1 as they are all using same switches etc.
Each time I power up one of the 4 quads it needs binding unless it was the last one bound!!!
If I bind an individual one to a model memory, using 4 of the memories all is well and as long as I am on the correct model memory the tx 'talks' to the corresponding rx!!!

So it looks like I do only have 5 usable model memories.

Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?

what they were basically saying is, when your swapping to another quad you simply set the tx to "bind" before you plug in the quad, the onboard rx will then automatically bind with the TX, If you do this each time you use a different quad you effectively only ever need use one model on the TX.

however, that also means your channel mapping must be the same throughout all your frames (generally most people dont use multiple channel maps anyway but its worth note).

Its how I usually use my Evo, I do however have three models set in my TX, one for Sbus, one for PPM and the last is simply for my cam ship that has alot more functions than my other frames so needs more of the switches set to specific ways which means its easier to give it its own seperate model.

OK I will give that method a try but I think I tried that. I will try it in the order you say. tx in bind mode them power quad on.

Just tried that method. I have a ia6B that is bound to model 4. Powered it off, power tx on, select model 5, select rx bind, shows binding to rx in display. Powered on the rx. Nothing changes on tx display!!! It's not bound to model memory 5. Switch to model 4 and rx works perfectly no re bind just works!!!
Any ideas?

ai6b's might have some form of bind lock which once established wont let the rx re-bind to anything else until physically told to (reset/bind button etc).

personally I use x6b's which will go into a bind setting if they cant find the tx on startup (even without pressing the bind button), Ive noted that even if I dont switch from my ibus model to ppm model the evo also seems to auto select the correct protocol on bind regardless which is handy when I forget to switch models.

I will try and have a play later tonight. I have an ia6B, an x6b, a flit10, and a spi integrated rx in a mobula7, plus the iA6C that came with the tx.
So I will try and see how they behave.
