Dromida Omnius wont fly

Hi everyone this is my first post. I have just been given a Dromida Ominus quad. The controller binds fine everything lights up as it should but the quad wont lift off the ground.
The rear lifts up but the front stays on the ground even though the rotors are spinning. If I turn left or right the corresponding rotor lifts up (inc the front) but it will not direct lift.
I thought the blades may be on the wrong way but switching these makes no improvement.
I cannot figure this out so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Try re-calibrating level,   then props off and hold the quad and tilt it  nose down , the front two motors should speed up.Also try side tilt as they should speed up as well in line with the rear motors.

Ok firstly you understand we are dealing with a cheap 1s toy grade here? There is little we can do.
When you say you turn left or right the front motors lift, do you mean pitch or yaw?

As hoverfly said, recalibrate is the first step

Perhaps your battery has had it. If you have been given it perhaps you don't know how the battery has been treated before you had it.  If it was discharged too low, like if it was left on then ran flat, the battery will be good for nothing.  You have a single cell Li-Po battery there with a JST RCY connector which is pretty common, so easy and cheap to replace.

Have a look at how to calibrate it too, it looks like it need to be calibrated every time you fly it.  There are a fair videos on how to calibrate it and also how to change some of the settings of the transmitter.

Also those gears and drive shafts look like a problem area.  First check the gears are clean without any damaged teeth, then check for hair round the drive shafts and other junk, then make sure they aren't bent and that there isn't much up and down play in the shafts.

Thanks for your help everyone. Ive stripped the quad down and cleaned everything out it all looked in good condition. Ive used a good lipo from another quad I have. Ive followed calibration also but still no joy.
Heres a vid of what happens https://youtu.be/CHptQ6b2gpY

Ok so front props are on the correct but not producing lift,

My first thought (and sorry if you are not new to quads) is you are using the pitch stick and thinking it is throttle. Radios can be set up in a number of modes, the two sticks, in the vertical direction, control pitch (tilting the quad forwards) and throttle,  depending on which mode it could be either way round, it really looks like you are increasing pitch, not throttle, try the other stick (the throttle should be the one that doesn’t self centre vertically)

For clarity, pitch stick makes the quad tilt forwards (or back), this makes it go forwards when it is in the air, but it doesn’t get it in the air.

Throttle increases the power, it is what makes it go.

As far as I can see you are giving it pitch but not throttle

Otherwise, Can you -
1.ensure the props are tight and don’t slip
2. On the video you are using pitch and possibly yaw, try doing it again doing roll (so the quad tilts to the left or right)

Again thanks for your replies. Ive done another vid showing how the quad responds to input from the controller.
Any ideas or questions.

Humm, there isn't too much to go wrong really with this quad.  The props look like they are going the right way, they are on the right way up on the right motors as far as I can see.  The RX is receiving and the FC is controlling, it all looks like it should work...

I think its out of trim or not set level or both.  Have you tried this kind of thing (in the video) to calibrate it and to make sure your trims are set neutral?

Also have a look at this one if you haven't seen it before, I think the kid has had too much SunnyD but he covers all the main features of the TX...

Agree that clarifies things a little.
Stick use is correct, front motors seem to spin but not create lift.
Calibration is first step

Ok tried calibration but still the same.
Do you think its worth trying this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dromida-E-Board-Yellow-Vista-FPV-DIDM1214/282756870198
or am I throwing good money after bad?

shawdreamer

the be-all and end-all in its most brutal form...

its a low cost setup, using low cost hardware with the minimal of spec to get it in the air.

as far as the makers looks at it, its more or less a use, abuse then straight in the refuse job and again to be brutal the makers probably expect the end users to understand this given the low purchase price a general spec.

so generally its probably just as you suspect and hinted at.... trying to fix it would likely be good money after dying cause, right now its no loss to you if you just bin or shelve it, that'll be different if you throw money a it and then have to bin it anyway.
