Transmitter "Click" digital trims

My much used Futaba FASST T-10CG Transmitter suddenly decided to only trim elevator down and aileron left, no right or up.

I tried working the switches (which were still "clicking" as normal), but no change. I got round it at the field for that session by using sub-trim.

Back home I removed the battery, gave each trim knob a good spray of evaporating contact cleaner, and worked them each way for 15 seconds. I then put the Tx on a window ledge in the sun for five mins to be sure it was fully dried out, reconnected the battery, and now they are all perfect again.   :)

I have six ancient but serviceable Futaba 35MHz Tx, five 6EX and a T7CP.  Over the years most have gone jittery at some recurring points due to dirt/dust/carbon particles inside the stick potentiometers.  (I use three on flight sims)

I wash these out with evaporating contact cleaner using the holes that exist either side of the PCB exit from the pot cover.  They then work fine for roughly another year.

I do the same periodically with the linear servos on small helicopters, same good result. Usually done over white paper so I can see when the wash goes clear.

ALWAYS ensure dry before powering up!!
