Frsky R9M - Fail safe when 2 systems close!!!!!

Just reading, on another forum, that there are some issues with the FrSky R9M. It appears that if 2 people try and use their tx at the same time on 100mW or more than fail safes occur!!!!

So just watchout anyone running R9M that no one else that you are flying with uses another R9M module!!!

No idea how true this is as I don't use FrSky but I do remember FrSky selling the R9M modules very cheap and quite a few people grabbing them quickly.

So make sure your failsafes are set correctly, not that I would expect anyone who is using a R9M not to but sometimes people forget.

Yeah, that was my post.  It's true, you can't fly more than one R9m system simultaneously at anything above 25mw. Doesn't seem well publicized this issue.  Seems like poorly written firmware.

I didn't notice it was you. Thought it was a bit of a scary issue so posted here.

Hopefully they sort out a software update out soon.

It is a bit surprising of such a big company to make such a big mistake. Maybe they rushed it out as they needed it quick as the competition was beating them. Then again why did they discount it so much? Can't imagine they would do it on purpose as it has the possibility to damage the brand.

From reading around the various groups, things to note:-

SW in the R9 system is shite, it is at development level not fit for a release.
RSSI inconsistent .
This multiple user at same time problem.
TX/RX looses link connection randomly, think the LBT suffers more than others. Probably due to interference.
Poor QA and design in the antennas, wrong length, connectors falling off.
Needs a good voltage supply, some FCs are causing drop outs.

Frsky don't seem to be bothered.

On the plus side I've done some walk tests and got some impressive range/penetration far better than my 2.4 kit. Not flown it yet as I can't get my plane off the ground    ::)

Well I got a reply from Frsky this morning:

"Thanks contact us, please try to flash the our latest flex firmware for your R9Mlite &R9 MM receiver, then test them again, I have already feedback to our test team, any news i will let you know."

So they're aware of this issue, but want me to try their dodgy beta software to see if it fixes it.
