Hi,

I am looking to add a fpv camera to my drone set up (TBS Discovery drone). As im using a GoPro for the filming I am starting with the monitor/ receiver and would like to get an 'all in one' 5.8GHz that I can mount onto my controller. I have been looking at either the Fieldview 777sb or the Skyzone HD02.

Has anyone had any experience with these?
Can they be paired with any camera and 5.8ghz transmitter?
Does anyone have any camera and transmitter recommendations?
Is this all I would need for a basic setup?
Is it worth getting a TBS OSD Core?

This is my first drone and it has been built from scratch. Im not planning on really long distance flights and will fly in a mixture of locations (city parks and coastal areas) but would like to have a set-up that's a bit flexible and I won't need upgrade after 5 minutes.

Thanks in advance.

Either of the monitors you list look  good. They also have built-in recorders.
They will work with any 5.8GHz  t/x,although I would up grade the antennas, one cloverleaf and one panel to give better coverage.
The Gopro can be used as the  F.P.V. camera as you can get an video out lead that will go directly to the V.T.X.
There are numerous V.T.X . on the market that are very small and light weight,  a browse through the fpv section  of the forum will give you an idea of the popular ones.
With regard to mounting the monitor on your t/x  it should be relatively easy, or use a tripod,  That will be all you need to get you up and running.

    Thanks Hoverfly for the help..

I have gone with the Fieldview 777sb (without recorder) as I thought my new GoPro hero6 would give a better pic quality.

I'm having a bit of a problem with getting the monitor to display the camera image. I have tried the following:

    • Used a multimeter to test the wiring along the whole connection from VTX to camera, all ok
    • I have bought/tried 2 VTX (25mw and 200mw) and 2 cameras ('RunCam Owl Plus 700TVL' and 'FatShark 700TVL CMOS')
    • I have also gone through all the channels and still only get a black screen. I know it must be picking up the signal because if I'm on different channels (VTX and Monitor) the screen goes fuzzy and I can hear the camera is getting power when I put my ear upto it
    • Also tried a GoPro Hero3 FPV transmitter lead
the setup I am trying to use is:
    • FieldView 777sb monitor with 1x TBS Triumph (RH) x 1 Standard Mushroom (RH) Antennas
    • RunCam Owl Plus 700TVL Mini FPV Camera - Orange (PAL Version)
    • Quanum Elite QE66-200H 5.8GHz 200mW 40ch Wireless AV Transmitter (Horizontal SMA Antenna) NTSC/PAL with TBS Triumph (RH) Antenna
Which is powered from my drones battery
The small limited instructions for the RunCam Owl camera says that I need to connect the camera to the monitor directly to setup the OSD - but the camera did not come with the required leads.... but there was requirement to do this with the FatShark - so I guess this isn't an issue..?

If anyone can see anything wrong or can help with this that would be great.

    Thanks
    Ben
