Smoke stopper...I only found out what one was when I first got into this hobby.  I think I read about one in posts, I then found a couple of vids about them, so a few weeks back I knocked one up from a blub, wire and plugs.

Last Friday I got my quad out of its box and noticed the ground wire on the Rx had broken away,  so out came the iron and I soldered the bugger back on, no problem ??

I got ready to plug in the battery as I'm still having problems with the Tx and RX,  somewhere in the back of the old noggin say "hold on, maybe it's a good time to try the stopper".  I thought ok just in case, you never know until it's too late, plugged it into the quad first, t'other end into the battery and Lo & Behold and lovely bright light.

"Nooooooooooo"  pulled the plug and set about finding out what was wrong, it had to be what I'd just repaired as there was nothing wrong when it went into it's box.

As I'm using both YDS FC and 4in1 ESC I pulled them apart and tried the stopper on just the ESC,  nothing wrong there, tried the same with the FC and bingo.
When I checked my repair under a magnifying glass I could make out maybe 1 or 2 single wires had bridged across the + & -, using a modelling knife it was easy to cut the bridge and clean the area of solder. On retest everything was great no more Northen Lights..

Am I glad I took the advice on here and make one....so from now on any work carried out will get a test with the stopper....it's got to be cheaper in the long run.  ~~
With all the beautiful things in the world,  only man could invent boredom.
