Hi all,

Bought myself a Mavic Pro on the weekend after pondering for some time. Absolutely loving it! Have no prior drone or flying experience so it';s a steep curve lol

Have had a few issues with the video feed to my iPhone stopping which I';m yet to figure out. Also I wonder if someone could give some feedback on the first lot of footage I took with it. It looks fine at 1080p but at 4K the has a ghosting or shimmering effect on the outer parts of the video. I will state now, I didn';t pay attention to the specific settings although I started off at ISO100 and 1/60s but it';s entirely possible I upped the shutter speed to compensate for the over exposure and this caused it. ND filters are next on my list to buy.

Thanks, and I';m glad to be here!

Welcome to the forum and that footage looks lovely.

The shimmering you';re talking about is fairly common on the mavics from what I';ve seen (not that I';ve used one personally, just passing on what I';ve seen and heard in other videos) and most people don';t tend to record on them at more than 2.7k. It';s probably the biggest complaint I';ve seen about them in comparison to the Phantom 4. It';s probably a bitrate issue, it';s far from the only camera to suffer from it.

I can';t help with the footage stopping though I';m afraid, I';ve heard of it in relation to the DJI app but since I';ve never used one, I don';t really know anything about it.

:welcome:
Congratulations on your new quad. You are brave taking your new toy over all that water. I would want to test it thoroughly over land just in case there were any teething troubles. Plus I would want to ensure I understood all the flight modes, rtl, orientation and how it handles in the wind.

It is worth avoiding flying over people and property that is not under your control. Check out the ';drone code';.

Nice footage looks impressive.

Happy flying and stay safe.
I try :-)

I did do a quick test flight prior to that. The people in the footage said they were ok with it, I checked first as I didn';t want to annoy them or their dog haha

I did check the drone code out. I didn';t go over the houses in the distance or peoples property, but if I did I';d make sure the drone was way up high.

Thanks for the welcome :)

I have only seen a phantom 3 with an iphone and it was very comprehensive on what you could set, looked quite a lot to learn.

I am just very cautious as spinning props can do lots of damage if they hit someone.

Above all stay safe and happy flying.

Always good to see new footage and the multi that took it

Thanks mate, I must admit I spent alot of time researching it including the basic controls. If you knew me you would know I worry about any little detail lol So I made sure I was comfortable with at least the basics before setting out to fly it properly. But it';s gonna take time to master and especially get to grips with the intelligent flight modes.

Hopefully will have plenty more footage to come!

Thanks dude, I hadn';t heard about people filming in 2.7k for that reason but I';ll check it out a bit further :D

Yep, I';ve done it too, my Mavic arrived last week, it does move in sport mode!

The footage is great and out of all the multi';s i';ve flown its bar far the easiest! now I know why so many people are able to just buy and fly!
