Vendetta throttle problem

Hi,
I';ve just bought a vendetta and a Taranis x9d. I';ve bound them and run through the osd calibration. I had it working, but now every time I touch the throttle it just goes straight up to full throttle. Even if I just nudge it up and leave the throttle near the bottom the motors just ramp up to full throttle and then I have no control over them - except to stop them. The osd displays that it';s able to see the full range of throttle movement.
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas?

Hard to tell without a video but I suspect, if you are new to this, you are talking about so,thing that is entirely normal.

This is with the props off?
Once you start giving it throttle, the quad shakes a little, the flight controller tries to correct this speeding up the opposite motor, this makes the quad shake more, it tries harder, on top of this, the corrections it tries to make have no effect (because you have no props on) so the I term kicks in and spins the motors faster and faster
