Help me understand JP1

FragglePete

Hi all,

My build is still coming together slowly; things have been on hold for various reasons but last night I sat down and soldered up the pings and mounted the board on the Quadcopter.

I';ve not hooked up anything to it yet, but just just tested my netbook connecting to it and got all excited waving the thing around and watching the HUD move around in the flight planner! ::)

My question is regarding JP1 - I';m unsure wether I should have it in place (closed) or open?  The main power leads to the ESCs are directly connected to a Power Distribution Board which will be connected directly to the battery (when I get one) and then the smaller connectors will go to the Outputs on the  board itself.  I';m just struggling understanding the terminology on the guides for JP1.

:help: appreciated.

Pete

The jp1 is used to power the whole board from the escs ubec

but if you put on a separate ubec you remove the jumper and the esc ubec dosent power the board  and becomes redundant for board power

So, in my configuration I need to remove it?

Thank you so kindly!

if your not running a seperate ubec but just intend to use the esc wires to the motor outputs you need to leave the jumper on

those smaller cables going to the motor outputs are your power supply from the ESCs onboard ubec and will power the whole board with the jumper in place

Ah ok, understood.  Wasn';t looking forward far enough because I thought I would be powering the board separately from a connection off the Distro board.  Jumper is back on.

Thanks
