wow I want one of them everything I have seen if the wind is above about 20Mph give up flying it
surely the jet wash would have caused it to crash somewhere near where the incident was ???
and lets be honest 50cm drone 4900 foot up weighing what 4 - 5 kg against a A320 unless it was sucked right through its jet and caused major failiure even then the chances of it causing the plane to crash would ve been Infinitesimal. there are so many safety features built in to these modern aircraft to deal with eventualities such as bird strike and engine failiure that lets be honest unless it was a lucky shot and you jammed a aileron or another control surface one of the million redundant circuits would take over and aid the safe landing of the aircraft

Unless I';m SEVERELY mistaken, there';s NO WAY that a drone could be up that high, travelling that fast (or fast enough so that it could at least be SPOTTED by the crew).

I think I heard a report that ingestion of a drone (dunno what type, but let';s assume a big clunky Phantom) would not kill an aircraft.

Come on BBC, think it through.

Only sensible conclusion: Aliens:shrug:

Its so simple....forward facing camera recording at 240fps...then they would have undeniable proof if it were in fact a drone. Oh no wait, that would mean there';s irrefutable proof that these stories are thumbsucks! Therefore do not fit camera as thumbsucking data is what works...  :banghead:

I am more worried about that pooor fpv pilot there he was flying in his local park lost concentration for a second then found himself confronted with the biggest fffing seagull he had ever seen and had to take action to avoid a collision. then he realised it was a A320 Airbus and brought his little 50cm drone safely back using nothing but LOS from 4900 feet up now that is impressive. I cant see a 450 from more than 100 foot away I think it must have been superman flying it. In another one of these reports I noticed a rather amusing police statement,

The Metropolitan Police said the plane was hit by the drone at about 1,700ft (580m) while flying over the area of Richmond Park, in south west London.

No debris has been found and police have asked for anyone who finds drone parts in the Richmond area to come forward.

The force';s aviation security unit, based at Heathrow, is leading the investigation.

what debris are they expecting to find its not ffffing roswell if a plane hit a drone at what 400Mph you would really need to open up that search area to more than just Richmond.

Damn must take meds

Worked it out now

It was the new mavic someone took it on holiday had a fly away and it ended up in follow mode
so look into the passengers on the plane and see if one of them had brought a mavic ad was trying to smuggle it in without paying the duty and import on it.

lengths people go to avoid paying DHL 16 quid to deliver it and pay customs in advance.

Well after seeing this I wonder if it was only there ready to offer a mid flight window cleaning service.
Or possibly to deliver a AMAZON book to one of the passengers.
Maybe it was a spares delivery for the pilots Mercedes who knows

So a plane, flying in 40+mph winds, travelling at approximately 111 meters per second spotted an object the size of a large serving plate one and a half bus lengths away (which at that speed could have literally been for less than one second before it was out of sight), and i that time managed to identify what it was, it';s size and it';s exact distance?

Not that it will make the blindest bit of difference, but I just posted a calm but concisely worded letter to the BBC News feedback and complaints department explaining how damaging their constant release of biased articles of this nature are.

I pointed out the scientific illegitimacy of the claims, the fact that when proof does come out, the stories often turn out to be bogus (plastic bag at Hearthrow as an example), and the fact that they are damaging a number of industries and peoples lively-hoods. If you read my letter to the MP';s RE: the new EASA regulations, think along those lines but more focused on the falsified claims of pilots.

Whilst like I said, it';ll likely make absolutely no difference, I would ask that you click the link above and submit your own worries about this issue as the more people that contact them, the more they may actually think about what they are doing.

It would be more like 160-180 knots in that area, and the temperature at 5000'; in July over London is probably around 15 Celsius.

Seriously guys, if that';s what the pilots think they saw, that';s probably what they saw. There isn';t some big conspiracy, just a few idiots with big boys toys. Blame them instead.

I';ll reiterate the fact that even if it was 160kts, they would have had less than 2 seconds to see it at almost 70 feet away. Oh yeah, and the whole plastic bag scenario

BBC=Lamestream media.
All part of the global agenda.
Sorry to sound all tin foil hat but it is becoming increasingly obvious that the main sources of news for the avarage man has little to do with honest reporting.

We should have a term for these unproven reports like DFO (drone flying object)
it';s factually a UFO but can be used instead if you don';t intend to produce any sort of proof or evidence to back up the claim.

The BBC often report DFO';s, its cheaper than employing journalists with any form of critical faculty.

Yep, and that';s plenty of time to see it and identify it.

As for the plastic bag, read it again. The airline/pilot never said they hit a drone. The media and police did.

Please not DFO how long until a newspaper picks up a headline with Deadly Flying Object when Mrs. Smith of Tunbridge Wells was mauled to death by a drone with 2 foot props dropping diamond cutting equipment into the local Prison so that a Drug dealer could remove the Mars bar from his arse which contained the mobile his 12 year old son flew to him using a toy he brought off the internet with a chinglish instruction manual.

No! the mental visions stop.

Must find a good name that can pick up a hashtag for Twitter.
We need to show that these things are not proven, in fact I said this the unicorn as I passed him on the way home the other day, it was fleeting I grant you but I';m sure it was a unicorn.

#dronicorn anyone? (zero hits on Google)
