Shopping list sanity check and advice

Hi guys,

I';m thinking about a new quad for some fpv fun.

My shopping list currently is

Acronaze 32 rev6
Fossilsstuff gravity 250 frame
Dys sn20a esc x4
Dys be1806 /2300kv outrunners

I have a spekky dx6 to that I can use along with a 6 channel rx

I want to kit it out with Fat shark goggles and an Osd but need some advice on what to get to finish off my shopping list.

Planning on getting everything I need from the drone show

Your thoughts?

Naze will work but it';s outdated now, go for an F3 or F4 board such as an Xracer (my choice), Lux, KISS, seriously pro, blue jay ETC.
Frame is solid if a bit heavy.
ESCs are just not good, little bee s or DYS XS series would be a much better choice.
Motors are limited by the frame, the DYS 1806 will work but my personal choice would be 2204/5 but again that';s not possible on a gravity 250.

RX and TX should be fine

FPV depends on you budget more than anything else.
Cam- HS1177 or runcam swift (my preference)
VTX- whatever you want/can afford (my choice is the ft48X)

goggles- really comes down to budget.

Re budget... I have a wad of cash enough for mavik fly more package so plenty for a complete setup. What I want is easy to setup. I don';t really want to spend hours fiddling with the software to get it right. I want something that I can plug in set some base config items and go n fly

Sounds like an immersionrc vortex pro or a TBS vendetta might be more to your liking. These are ready to fly, so literally plug in a receiver and a battery, bit of config and go fly.
Goggles are the best way to fly FPV with the  current top of the fatshark line are the dominator HD V3s.

Assuming of course you don';t want to spend the time building the quad.

I don';t mind doing the build. I like soldering and building stuff. Not so interested in pushing a mouse around ( I work in IT so spend all day doing that)

If it was me I';d probably go with a QAV210 style frame with:
QAV210 style frame
emax rs2205s,
DYS or littlebee BLheli_s ESCs,
HS1177 or runcam swift,
FT48X,
Xracer flight controller, (flashing to betaflight isn';t hard)
fatshark dominator V3s or HD2s
and circuar polarised antennas of some description

Hard to argue with this. You may have trouble getting ft48x, consider foxeer switcher

Also suggest replace the cam with foxeer arrow v2 (same as these two but has a built in osd and voltage sensor

But that will give you a decent quad

I would have suggested the realacc/racestar package on banggood,its in the flash sale right now.probbis,camera wise you will have probs with certain cameras and not with others.

It would most likely have to be built sdered connections as there is no room inside for connectors.

210 xframe 4mm,not the fancier pro one as that one has far too many issues.the 210 is perfect,the one i recieved in unbelievabley good for the £20 it cost me,love this frame.

Racestar v2 30a blheli_s,i actualy run these esc and they perform.

Racestar 2205 2300,i run emax red bottoms but the racestars are getting good reviews,i wouldnt mind trying them myself.

F3 fc,i am using a naze32.

Add a matek pdb with 12/5v reg,a good cam,minimosd,a tx and an rx.

I use the eachine ev800 goggles,i like them a lot,they are also on the flash sale.when i bought them they were £38 if i am not mistaken,they are great goggles.

Racerstar motors are mediocre and getting same reviews mate, also he is talking about buying at U.K. Drone show, doubt banggood will be present

So I have had a look at the vendetta and the vortex both are affordable and look good. The vendetta "looks" cooler tho so will try and get one of those and some dominator hd3

That leaves finding an rx that will fit and is compatible with my dx6

both of those are the two best rtf on the market

Rx can';t help but the vendors at the drone show should

Props
HQ or DAL triblades (not bullnosed)
Suggest stopping by Electricwingman for HQ and hobbyrc for dal

Batteries
Gens ace tattu or turnigy nanotechnology for mid range, turnigy graphene or drone labs chaos edition for Top range. Other brands are available but those are what I do use and how I class them

so i have done some research on the vendetta and the vortex...

i have decided to go with the vendetta... so my new shopping list now looks like this

fatshark dominator hd v3
(fatshark rx - no idea which one but im sure i will find out)
tbs vendetta
spare props for vendetta
lipos for vendetta (need to order some for my ebaja anyway)
spektrum rx
5.8ghz antenna ';s for fatsharks and drone (or at least 1 as the drone comes with one already.)

anything im missing?

already have a quad battery charger and a couple of single chargers. (been running rc cars and planes for some time)

Looks good

Make sure your rx is at least 6 channel and small enough to fit (tbs can probably advise)

From memory is comes with a tbs triumph which is a good vtx antenna, it is an excellent antenna but is circular polarised, make sure the antenna you get for the fatsharks has the same polarisation

I would suggest a diversity receiver for the fatsharks with one circular polarised antenna and one patch (both will need the same polarisation as the vandetta)

Or you could get dominator se if you want to save a few pence
