need to replace motherboard and CPU looking for suggestions

OK after much struggling with what I have and having to reformat several times to keep it running I have to buy a replacement motherboard and CPU
So I don';t want to spend a fortune no not right just skint I need something fast enough to run liftoff and windows 10 I have sata hdds so that is a requirement probably need memory too and graphics card.
Problem is I have no idea what CPU and motherboard and memory lol so suggestions please does not need to be new just serviceable

try and find a second hand i5 2500k and mobo that chip still stands strong today.

what do you need it for just browsing or some gaming too?

The graphics card is probably going to be the most pricey part if you want to run liftoff nicely but you can probably get something for around £50 that was good a couple of years ago.

I like amd processors but long gone are the days when I knew how fast they are they all have funny names now lol
Darrell I like that page but again it is confusing all the processors and graphics lol I do not need a monitor I have a 28" hi def monitor I have 2x1tb sata drives it is the mobo and CPU that let it all down I have a quad core 1.5 at min with internal graphics and 4gb men

The Q6600 processor is comparable to the i3 it';s the Graphics card that really does make a difference.
Now I know what you';ve got it';s easier to advise.
1) CPU clock speed makes a big difference.
2) Ram makes a big difference.
3) Dedicated graphics makes a big difference.
This would be ok if it would fit in your case and the power supply would be compatible.

Like I said something like the previous link would be ok with no messing about - it';s a box only so your monitor would be good.

Thanks now all I have to do is get on her case and tell her we need a new one lol at least I now have some idea of what I am looking for
