So, I eagerly awaited the arrival of my FC and batteries from Hobby King. Once they are here, I';ll be pretty much done, and my 550 build can soar upwards, taking award-winning photos of my grinning mush from a couple of hundred feet up..... Or so I thought...

UPS turned up today, with the goodies, but demanded £41.93 import tax!

Seems that, despite selecting items that are in stock in the UK warehouse, the HK sales process doesn';t necessarily pick that warehouse for you. In this case, it opted to deliver from the International Warehouse (Hong Kong), thus necessitating a charge for import!

After a chat session with their support (who were very good in all fairness) it all became clear, and the trick is to double-check the product banner before adding to cart. Just because it states UK Warehouse, doesn';t mean that it';s the one you picked!

So, it';s all sorted. I learned something today. But the build is delayed.

Yep ups are bad,frikkin terrible,they make mugs out their delivery guys and half that charge is for the guy who';s delivering it anyways is for picking up money!???

They only take cash or cheques and not cards which is a bigger bummer!

I made a mistake and didn';t select uk warehouse rushing too much,it was international and was delivered from Singapore,took 3 weeks so had to buy a polulu for £6 when I bought from hk 4 super mini pdb with 5v Bec and came in at around £6.50 delivered,I apparently saved 51p though!

Marked as gift for $3.50 which is what they cost.

That';s rough, typical though - I try to buy most of my stuff from EU warehouse where possible, it often avoids things going t1ts up plus they do more mode 1 stuff there

UPS put one of my orders on to the company account, to cut a long story they messed about trying to get me just to pay as the company. I refused to pay until they billed me properly, not least of which I didn';t want my payment method to then be tied to the work account.
I hope they had hassle setting up a proper bill as the accountant at work was not too impressed that "I had apparently used the company account for personal use" I hadn';t, didn';t even know how to, so screw UPS and their inefficient methods.

I have been lucky so far not had any import charges even on the radio i brought but i know i will eventually just hope it is on some low priced item lol

Oddly, I needed to make the cheque payable to UPS.... If this is for Import Tax, then shouldn';t the payment be to HMCE?

Anyhoo - got agreement for refund and re-ordered from the UK warehouse for delivery tomorrow. It even worked out cheaper, too!!

I may be on track again!!!!

AS UPS are your agent no they pay HMRC on your behalf and charge you for doing so

Ah, right. Makes sense. So they pay the tax at the nominal rate, and then bill me for nearly 40% of the invoice value.. Sneaky! Glad I returned it!!

Yeah have had that before says from uk warehouse then takes 3 weeks lol
alos noticed if you hover on the page of the item you want to buy in a few mins you get a discount cheaper price
