I git for 2 quads,it';s saved me walking all over looking for a quad I thought landed there, when it actually landed 25metres away.

Lesson I have learned though is to make sure it';s working right before trepsing off for a fly as I flew my 122 atom today for first time and where I thought it went it didn';t and out came loc8tor and it didn';t find a signal even when I finally found the quad it still didn';t pick the tab up.

So tinkering to get it all going again was required.

Other than that it does work most of the time I used it.

Only asking as people don';t seem to say that use it and someone';s lost a quad today.does it work if your quad gos down in water and mud?mine are just velcrod on although I got tape also round the 122 as it won';t go inside it so it';s kinda wrapped with tape (white) for visibility.

Yeah as I mentioned in that other post I wasn';t keen on them for the price I paid. I had 2 of them and I think if anyone buys one thinking there bomb proof they may well be in for a shock. Anything is better than nothing of course, but they are or at least were  expensive.
I had one tab fall off my quad in a field the size of a few football pitches, and there was no way was I gonna find it even though it was all short grass. I didn';t have a clue where it was. I eventually found it thanks to the little beeping noise it makes audible up to about 10 maybe 15 feet distance. I personally doubt it will get activated under water even though I believe the tags themselves are waterproof.

I have used one on my planks, it saved the day several times.  I managed to plant a funjet at full  mambo into a oilseed field, the crop was chest high . Only time it baffled me was when  i  ran out of battery, there was enough for the controls but not the motor.  It went down about a couple of hundred yards away,  when i got about a hundred yards away the locator worked well untill i  ended up behind a hedge line when i got confusing results the tracker was indicating i was on top of the  A/C but it turned out the other way around the A/C  had settled on top of a large hawthorn  bush.
Great bit of kit, but it neeeds to be firmly fixed to the craft.

I "landed" my Boomerang IC plane into a field of a waist high bean type plant after the engine crapped-out again when practicing go-arounds.  The plants and pods were pretty much black...Anyhow even although I watched where it went in (making a huge cloud of dust)...I actually didn';t have any idea when I got to the area where it was.  Even although it is a BIG plane I still couldn';t see it until I was almost on top of it. It was only because of the servos making a noise that I zoned in on it....

If a small quad goes into a field of crop any higher than 30 cms, I would imaging finding it would be nearly impossible.  :blink

I am seriously considering getting a loc8tor too for my quad.

The plane was fine, just got a hole punched into the covering on the tail.

That plane has 9 lives...I wonder how many are left....
