Which wires

Hello,

I';m just about to start building my first quad and waiting on all the bits arriving.
I';m building a 2s micro quad.
Could someone advise what gauge of wires to get? I was looking for some sort of kit with an assortment of wires to get me started.

Thanks

I use this chart for reference.. http://www.coonerwire.com/amp-chart/ but without knowing what motors, ESCs and props you';re using I don';t know what you';ll be drawing, amp wise.

Using 200c silicone wire I';d probably say 26awg for the ESCs and 18-20awg for the battery. Also, use an XT30 for your batteries. These small batteries often come with JST (red) connectors, which are only rated to 5-10A max. Whatever your setup you';ll probably be drawing more than that.

iCrashEdit

great question!! I did not even think of this, do you have a link to what assortment of cable your thinking of purchasing?

Side question... what size do you guys use for 5v from FC (Naze 32 Rev 6) to PDB?

hippytyre

I couldn';t find any wiring kits, that';s why I thought I';d ask here.
I';m building a little micro using a kingkong 1100

Kingkong frame
65mm props
2s rated 8520 brushed motors
MinimOSD micro
FS-A8S receiver
King Kong q25 fpv bundle

Ah a brushed setup. What flight controller? You';ll connect the motors directly to the flight controller, so all you';ll need is a lipo wire and connector.

EDIT: I see it comes with an FC so you';re set.

hippytyre

I just bought the parts individually not the kit. I';m using a SP racing F3 evo flight controller as it can handle 2S.

I already have the flight controller  flashed with betaflight and it';s in acro. I really want to build a bigger 5" propped quad but I';ll learn on this first. It';ll probably be destroyed in a few weeks';

I assume that';s the brushed version? Didn';t even know it existed until I just did a search...

hippytyre

Yup, it';s the brushed version.

Right, so your lipo';s will come with a certain connector, you need to get a matching connector with wires to solder up to the FC. You spied the batteries you';re going for?

hippytyre

Yup, I bought a pack of three generic 400mah ones on Amazon. They come with the correct connector. No balance plug though.

You got a link? No balance connector doesn';t sound right..

Hmm that wouldn';t have been my choice, you can';t balance them, which can be dangerous. If you';re charging and one of the cells is damage and won';t accept a full charge, the other cell gets over-charged and you wouldn';t know.

hippytyre

Yeah, I might change those. I do have a couple of smaller 2S batteries with balance plugs. I won';t be charging them unattended.

Saleem

make a balanced charging lead, assuming you got a charger, which charger you going to use?

I found these type of batteries without balance leads even when using home made balancing charge lead are bums to charge up.i found its realy hard to get a realy good full charge into the batterys.

Why i will try my best to buy batterys with a blance lead incorporated into them in future.
