Hi, installed a px4 pixhawk and just wondering if the external mag is supposed to show as moving in mission planner?  when i move the px4 the compass moves fine showing the internal mag is working, but when i move the gps+mag the heading does not change, i know this was the case somtimes with apm but not sure about pixhawk so any feedback welcome..  oh and i have 2 mags showing in the mission planner with one set as external..

Rammylad

Hi,
Try setting COMPASS_USE_1 to 0, which means it will completely ignore the internal compass.

Thanks - tried it and it still uses the internal compass, its like it carnt see the external one so i tried another and its same

Have a look at the compass set up screen on Mission Planner,  the P/Hawk  auto detects the compass set up ,if the settings have been changed  it screws it up.

As far as I know, the yaw changes in mission planner';s artificial horizon display has nothing to do with the compass, it is affected by the accelerometer readings. If you need to check your magnetometer raw data, click on status tab beneath the AHD in mission planner and check if mx,my,mz,mx2,my2,& mz2 data are populated. if one of the set has zero values, then your controller is only detecting one compass.

All sorted and thanks for the suggestions, firstly i was pluggin in the compass into the can port by accident and secondly on the compass calibration screen the second compass does start to move immediatly making me think its not working but it does start after a few seconds.
