My first FPV Quad

Hello there...

I have now been looking around places for a very long while and was wondering if any of you might be able to tell me if the configuration of parts I am planning to get will lift and carry a little SJ4000 camera plus a little FPV setup.

I have now been playing about with my little Diatone FPV250 V3 for a few weeks and like it a lot.
Now it';s time to step up the game a little and build something a little bigger.

I have been looking at the following setup:

(I know some people don';t like the Diatone Whitesheep, please spare your comments. I know it';s stabbing TBS in the back but I am planning to buy the TBS Discovery Pro with gimbal in the future to support them)

Frame: Diatone Whitesheep PCB Version
Motors: 4 x EMAX XA2212 980KV
ESCs: 4 x EMAX 20A SimonK
Propellers: 4 x Gemfan 11 x 4.7"
Flight Controller: OpenPilot CC3D (I love that thing!!!)
Batteries: I have got three nano tech batteries which I was wondering if they could be used for this quad too.
1 x Turnigy Nanotech 2200mAh 3S 35-70C Discharge
2 x Turnigy Nanotech 2200mAh 4S 25-50C Discharge

What does everyone think? Any chance of lift and a little bit of flight time?

Thanks for you help!

Don';t see why it shouldn';t work, but I';m using a Naza-M lite as FC (I too love the CC3D which has served me well in my 450 build and now in my mini quad) and 920kv motors on my Alien build, with 30A escs. 11" props may be a little bit too much on those motors but I';m sure someone more experienced will confirm yay or nay! I';ve found 10" props are good for me. Anyway check out my build and see what you think. Also, do a search on other similar build on the forum:

Looks good anyway, research & experiment is what I say  ~~

Just compleated my first similar speced build the other week .
APM 2.7
white sheep frame
30amp ESC Emax
10" props
935 Kv motors Emax
3600mah batts.

If the wind ever stops blowing and it ever stops raining ,I';ll let you know how it flys .

No I have managed a couple of batts worth of flying. The slow motors and big props and my inexperience mean any wind above 5mph has me flapping .
Oh and maybe I should have gone for a slightly lower mah batt 3000 ish because of C.O.G issues .

As art says, 10" are probably better, I use the emax 2212';s, love ';em in fact!  great motor for the price.  If it';s a Disco clone, then I would have thought 4 cell 4000 mAh';s would be about the right size.  Your current draw would likely be around 25-30a normal cruising.  You should get at least 15 mins with that combo.

I';m too am waiting for this confounded weather to sort itself out. I just need to get the tuning done and will be running 5000mah batteries. 4000mah would have been fine but there was a sale on, and who can resist a sale?! ::)

Thanks for your replies so far.
I have also got 4x Turnigy Aerodrive D2830-11 1000kv motors lying around if they';d be any better.

I had those motors lying around as well and I';m too tight to buy anything else.
Currently building them into my next quad using 8045 props and 4S should produced over 4kg of thrust and go like stink.

And where I fly there are plenty of cows about. So could have a very stinky multi very soon

I';ll try some 10" props and see how I get on. Probably push my battery capacity up as well and get some other ones. 15 Minutes is more than enough! Ecalc was giving me around 4-5 minutes flight time which was pretty upsetting!

After a few months of not having time to build anything I think I';ve finally completed the build and am ready to give it a spin...

I';ve attached some pictures below and also some screenshots from ecalc.
My motors or batteries aren';t on there so I had to guess...

7.2min flight time as it stands but as I';ve said not actually tested it yet.

First time using a DJI Naza M Lite (upgraded to a V2). Anyone who got a similar build happy to help me with the settings? :)
