Power draw?

Looking at pololu 12v step-downs,  and all I can seem to find is one capable of 600ma output or a 2a one which is bigger and costs more. What kind of power would a 12v vtx and 12v cam draw as I would be running them both from it.

ched

Looking at a few specs cameras seem to be about 0.1A and say a 600mW vtx would pull about 0.5A. So I would guess a 2A would be safer. It really depends on your actual components. I guess you don';t have a multimeter you could measure the current of your camera and vtx? That way you could be sure what current capacity was required.
I try :-)

i have one, dont know how to test current

I measured myself 5 ft 8" now what?

It depends on the VTX and camera model.  For example, the TS5823 draws 190mA and the CC1333 80mA according to specs.  If that step-down converter is rated for 600mA continuous output you';ll be fine.

Just done a quick test on mine. The PZ0420 draws <1w and the 250mW FS vTX draws bang on 3w. The amp draw will vary depending on voltage so looking at watts is best.

go for the 2 amp one. gives plenty of headroom.

Think I';ll just wait for the rmrc 12/5v dual reg to come back in stock

Thanks bazz just ordered deffo worth a try

i use them on all my builds and haven';t had a failure yet. i think they work ok as a power filter for fpv gear stuff too as long as you haven';t got major issues. i drop a bead of superglue on the adjusting screw when I';ve got the desired output but i dont think its totally necessary

Yeah I';ve used adjustable regs in the past. I put a blob of hot glue over the screw

Definitely recommend securing the pot somehow.  It takes a fair bit of swearing to get the desired voltage ouput, but once it';s set it';s set.  It also stays constant whether you feed it 3S or 4S.  ~~
