D4R-II won't bind

Hi all, I have ran in to an issue, one I know has been discussed. I got my Taranis from HK it is not running the eu firmware, however, I got a D4R-II from a UK dealer and I cant bind them. Is this likely to be because of the changes to EU. If so is there a way to flash the D4R to a non EU firmware or something to get it to work?

thanks for any response, hopefully simple enough that a complete noob can follow.

I don';t think that there is a EU d4r-ii firmware, I';m running the international Taranis firmware and a new d4r-ii from T9 binds immediately (but the evils of failsafe are a different matter)

Make sure your Taranis is in the D8 mode though before trying to bind.

Edit: D16 mode is for the X series receivers

I believe the D4R-II does indeed have the newer EU-compliant firmware as sold since 1st January this year (iirc).

Quadfather discusses the topic here, and makes reference to the D4R-II also ... http://www.multi-rotor.co.uk/index.php?topic=13705.0

Have a read through that thread - and I also think he posted links to firmwares on either that thread or another in the same section of the forum recently.

Also, have a rummage around this thread that I started, QF and Fletch have posted some good information, links, and also link to video tutorial how to flash using your Taranis.

The link i posted will be out of date if you are using opentx 2.1 or later, as the new firmware has its own maintenance mode and you won';t need to jump throw half the hoops on the stuff i posted.

This is the latest way with 2.1

The D4R-II isn';t EU compliant (same as the whole D range) which is why it has been removed from the Taranis EU firmware and I doubt that a EU firmware for the D will be forthcoming as they are concentrating on the X range (giving them the old D capabilities and dropping the price)

The newest firmware for the D4R-II is the 27ms and is quite old.

I only know this because I have bought a few new D4Rs and they work with the international TX firmware straight out of the packet.

I have had to reflash any X series receivers though (with such catchy names it';s confusing)

Success, not sure why but persistence has paid off. Kept trying as I was sure I was doing it right.

Thanks everyone for all the advice, was interesting reading none the less.
