Charger restarts

I have a lipo balance charger which can charge 2-6s batteries and 6000 mah. (as written in manual  )

Lipo Balance Charger restarts when I connect 5000mah 4s battery in balance or normal mode. Am I doing something wrong or the charger specs is fake.

I bought from ebay. It is Imax B6. On charger it says 2-6s Battery and 0.1-6 A. On adapter output 12V 5A.

There are a lot of fake imax B6 chargers on ebay, there should be a hologram sticker on the back of it with a number on it, you can then put the serial number into the imax website and it will tell if it';s genuine

what do you mean it restarts? if its the timeout cutoff stopping the charge then you can change or disable the timeout setting in the menu. same goes with the max capacity cutoff.

1. I increased cutoff mah to 5200.
2. When I start charging, after 1 sec lcd disapperars and chargers restarts.
3. The only hologram says "QC passed". No numbers.

While the B6 does say 6S and 6A it';s not capable of both at the same time

It';s 50w max, which at 6S max voltage of 25.2 is a max charging rate of 2.48A or 2.98A for a 4S, set it to any higher than this and you are trying to pull more current than the charger can supply...

I started with 3.7 A but after a whle adapter get hot. Now I am trying at 3.0 A.

Will there be an effect as to shorten battery life when I am charging with 3A?

Charging at a lower rate is not bad for your batteries in fact just the opposite, I have always charged at lower than 1C and have several packs that are now 4 years old and still ok.

Both my accucell and genuine B6 (both same!!) do this occasionally. I found it was the PSU/jack. I found that Either psu needs to warm up or the DCinput plug moved slightly breaking contact. I eliminated the latter by tweeking the + spring inside the jack socket very slightly. Now the plug fits tight. I also use a quality psu not a 99p job from China  both are good chargers and suit my needs fine. Even made up a 6x balance lead to charge the hubsans 1sS - 6s balance@ 600mah 65mins for all six!!

50w/14.8v =3.37amps so that';s your max charge rate for your pack.

Your charger should limit itself automatically to this but if not then just make sure you set it under this number and it should be happy.
