Pork Chop

Has anyone seen or used one of these ... at almost 1.3Kg in weight, it may not be an option for many but ...

Anyone seen or used one of these?

It';s humongous with a 10C constant discharge rating, in theory it means you could pull 160 amps out of it?  We';re in car-starting territory here!

Minimum Capacity: 16000mAh
Configuration: 4S2P / 14.8V / 4Cell
Constant Discharge: 10C
Peak Discharge (10sec): 20C
Pack Weight: 1290g
Pack Size: 173 x 74 x 45mm
Charge Plug: JST-XH
Discharge Plug: XT90
So new to quads it hurts.  Please note - stupid questions will be asked.

quadfather

Yes, a peak discharge of 160A and they supply an XT90 with it.

These LiPos seem to fare quite well on bigger quads.  Have a look on YouTube, there are several tests.

Surely peak discharge would be 320A!! (20C)
Continuous would be 160A (10C)

Not sure they sell anything that could handle that, the closest I can find is EC5';s, they can do 120Amps continuous apparently...

But to answer the original question, yes I have ';seen'; them before, HobbyKing had a sale on them not so long ago. Was tempted until I saw the weight! :o
It would also take me over 2 and a half hours to charge one on my baby charger!

Indeed.  I missed the 20C bit.

There';s something being sold as XT150.  They look like 6mm banana plugs.

After that it';s Anderson Power Poles. ~~

Bl@@dy h3ll we';re getting into welding cable territory here ::)

Output wise this is less capable than a 2.6 4s 65c A-Spec. But they are great batteries for the right copter, ie, larger copter where flight times are desired over performance. A couple of these on a huge 8s hex would be good.

I';ve been using the 4.0 4s 10c on my tri and get up to 20mins flight. I want to try a 5200 4s but they sell out so fast they';re almost never in UK stock.

They don';t like the cold, though.

I';ve started my car off a 4.5 40c 4s lipo

Use these on some of my planes with some big current draws, in excess of 120 amps on some stuff with no ill effects.

I have two of the 8000mAh multistars and I honestly can';t tell any difference in performance. I';m not sure how the "C" rating really works out in LiPos but I figure since current is C/s then the charge really is irrelevant if you';re drawing enough current at a high enough potential. Any sluggishness using these batteries I assume is from using 5000mAh batts or lower and then motors that are trying to draw 30A at full throttle which the batt can';t supply to four motors.

Atleast, I think.  :hmm:

There are quite a few jump start packs out there running li-po , I was demo';d one at £45 and another at £120, they were both impressive for the size

I';ve been flying 8Ah and 10Ah Multistars for a long while now and they work just fine as far as I can tell. The XT90s are okay, though they do spark on occasion. This is on my 450 quad with a minor payload, and they get me a 15-20 minute flight time with room to spare.

I';ve recently upgraded all of my 6S to EC5.  Not too happy with the XT60 or 90 plugs on there with all of that power going through.  Might just be over cautious though...

I';m a lover of EC5';s as well, all my 6S packs are fitted with them...

I have 4 of the 6s ones for my electric bike.
