What do people generally think is the best GoPro 3 gimbal at the moment with the best and most stable footage and reliability???

quads500

Hi, I am also comparing gimbals. may be this thread can help.
Do you have a specific budget ?
2 or 3 axis ?
S500 quad frame, Rctimer Crius AIOP 2.0, Rctimer 2212,  30A, 9443 prop.

I guess it kind of depends what flight controller you';re using?  For instance, if you have a dji FC, then the zenmuse gimbal range are a no brainer in my opinion.  They are truly plug and play, and speaking as somebody who has set up and built gimbals of his own, the zenmuse range is pretty unbeatable in terms of final result of footage.  They pretty much become aerial tripods!   ~~

If you go down the open source route, very good results can be had to be sure, but there';ll be more setting up to do, but if you';re not fazed by that then there are quite a few out there.

Ask Powerlord, see what he says!

flybywire,
Very good point I should have mentioned it';s a stock DJI Naza 2 FC, I have their 2 axis gimbal but if I';m honest was so underwhelmed by it (jello city), it wasn';t true so am now after the best 3 axis I can find but if the 3d perfomrs like my 2d I';d give it a very wide berth.
I purposefully didn';t mention any name or try and steer anyone to see if any other suggestions came up.

quads500,
No budget I just want it to work and work well!!!!!!

I only have the Feiyu Tech 2 axis Gimbal, on my 550 quad with Wookong, but i have been really more than happy with its plug n Play performance, its nice and smooth operation, and no Jello on the stock dampers at all.

Granted, not the cheapest of Gimbals, but i just didnt want any messing around, with tuning etc, once its powered up, it initializes quite quickly, and just worked from the off.
Yuneec Q500+
Yuneec Typhoon H

Certainly their 2 axis gimbal I heard extremely good things about, the 3 axis from other forums seems a bit more hit or miss and some people really pleased with it and others not, they';re just released a mini version as well which is that much smaller and 40g lighter

Gimbals don';t cause jello, badly setup multi';s do!

I have the h3-2d, and can';t fault it in any way, so not sure why yours is so bad.  Try balancing your motors/props, if u haven';t already.

I';ve got a aeroxcraft gimbal on f550 and it';s the best £100 ive spent. It';s only 2axis but compared to the dji gimbal it';s only a fraction off the price.
Off course I had to buy the aeroxcraft landing gear so it would fit easier.  ;)

I';ve done all of that several times in an attempt to eliminate it and in case it was something i was doing wrong got somebody else to help / make sure I was doing it correctly. I tried all the different coloured balls and tried putting sorbathane in between and with ear plugs in the dampners and without ear plugs, with ear plugs and sorbothane and with earplugs and no sorbothane and made no difference what so ever .............. I kind of ran out of ideas of anything else to try .... nearly forgot tried an ND filter as well :-)

Ok, then maybe it';s a new frame/motor combo you should be looking at, not a new gimbal?

Here';s a look at two of my setups, the CX4 is carrying the H3-2D + GPH 3 B, and the Xugong 10 has my home built two axis with a DYS 1080p cam (cheapo).

DYS 1080p test from Andy on Vimeo.</p>

It was the cameras I was attempting to showcase, but you can see the gimbal performance too.  As I say, I';ve had excellent results from the H3, particularly in windy conditions, barely a hint of movement, so, unless your gimbal is in some way faulty, or perhaps corrupt firmware?  Have you updated all the firmware for the IMU & gimbal controller?

Whilst I';m enormously chuffed at my gimbal build attempt, and it ';did a job';, you can clearly see the difference, can you not?

Using the FeijuTech FY-G3 Ultra on my tri and I';m very pleased with it. This is my first flight with it..

flybywire,
As you say you can see the difference, does it perform as well in fast forward flight, most of the video was relatively "tame" flying.

Revs,
That';s pretty good footage if that';s straight out of the box?

Revs

Yes mate, plug and play, no tweaks  A bit breezy up on them there hills, too.
