Dominator HD's no longer in production?

I found out from a guy at hobbyrc.co.uk that Fatshark have stopped production of the Dominator HD.
Does anyone know why Fatshark would cease production of their (allegedly) best video goggles?

Revs

Didn';t know about this either, but I';ve just found this..

QuoteDiscontinued is a bit of a strong word. More accurate would be to say the DOMHD was a limited production. I pushed the limits and the low eye relief was enough of an issue to create a mixed bag of reviews from people loving it to people hating it (and me in the process). In order to continue production I would';ve had to commit to another large production run and endure another 6 months of defending the product. There isn';t any eminent release planned for a DOMHD V2. Your DOMHD will remain the biggest, baddest (and now most rare) FPV headset for some time.

Hrm.  Then I have a tricky decision.  Do I buy the Dom HD';s while they';re still available?  Or wait (potentially a long time) for something better to come along?
Some frank advice would be appreciated guys.  Bear in mind that I am DESPERATE to start my FPV adventures, and waiting an extra 3 or even 6 months is therefore a big deal.

headplay??

You got your flying machine built yet??  We gonna get the 4 Aberdeen guys out for a blast in the next few weeks??

I was saving for the DomHD';s but no-one could get them so I went for the DomV2';s. No regrets, they';re awesome!

I';ve been looking at them.  The FOV is smaller, 32 degrees I think?  And I heard the lens is plastic, which leads do colour distortion around the edges.  Do you find that?

Yes, and sure! :>  I';m still tuning - got some mad oscillations at full throttle...  I';m going to enable OneShot today.
What location and when? :>  Who is organising it?

No enough for it to be an issue, but it';s subjective. It depends on your face shape, IPD, eye depth, etc. Best thing to do it try before you buy. Where are you? Maybe there';s someone close who could let you have a go. I didn';t, I took a gamble which fortunately paid off. Can';t imagine there are too many folk who would be unhappy with them TBH.

Not at all, the picture is clear and sharp and the screen size is perfect, it';s immersive, but It';s not so wide I have to move my eyes around to see the whole display, this is useful when flying with an OSD.

The Dom v2.2 have a built in DVR, it';s not fantastic but it is useful if your copter or plane goes down and you need to find where it was when it went in.
Why use 4 motors when you can use 6?

I agree with DB regarding the FOV, it';s just nice. And yes the DVR is a handy thing to have.

Hrm okay, I will give those goggles another look!  Thanks guys. :>

Fletch

You can have a look at my skyzone goggles ...

Will get back to you the tail end of the week ... once i';m home

They';re kinda bulky.. and I';m not keen on the polystyrene appearance.
I';m definitely tending toward Dominator V2 at the moment.  Kinda interested to see your SkyZones though, if I don';t pull the trigger on the Fatsharks before we meet :>
