Quite possibly that is the case. I had thought that and was giving the benefit of the doubt. But he didn';t reply to my last email when I pointed out that the quad wasn';t even armed when it caught fire.

The 18a KISS ESCs have a 30a burst capability for 20 seconds. With these motors, I don';t really need to go above 50% throttle for most stuff to go bloody quick, general flying is a lot less. So I doubt an over draw of currant was the issue in this case.

Oh well, live and learn. I';ve learnt not to buy their stuff again. 

I agree, tone of voice aside, they should be bending over backwards after selling these fire starters.  I haven';t checked up elsewhere, but not that many people fly KISS on this forum and it seems like half of them have had theirs burn up.

I agree, it looks like there could be a fairly high failure rate, just from what I';ve read on this forum. Maybe they are getting frustrated and are looking for an excuse instead of a fix. Which isn';t really the best way to go.

Hmm, not really getting the support from Flyduino I had hoped for. First of all Dirk said the motors were over 30a, when I directed him to the webpage were it says they are 15a, he said they are wrong and they are 26a as he has tested them.

Odd how one caught fire without any motors spinning, yet when I flew it, and was using the motors, they didn';t catch fire...

Edit, there is actually something at the bottom of the webpage of the motors where it does mention 26.3a. Still not sure how a motor that isn';t spinning can draw any currant like that?

Did you have any more response from flyduino ?
Had a fet burn out as well recently and had the same response about my BO330 with 2208 2000 motors.
Took me 3 replacements before I got a set that worked.

I';ve not heard any more from them since yesterday morning. Did they trying blaming the motors with you as well then?

Sounds like you had a result in the end. Maybe I just need to keep on at them.

In my first email I had put the spec of the motors, props and lipo to show it was WELL within the tolerance of the ESCs along with a nice gory close up shot of the destruction seen on the PCB of the KISS.

I will let you know how the mix match of version KISS work, should not be any noticeable difference at all

Well, I had a reply this afternoon from yesterdays email. There';s a replacement ESC in the post to me. I wasn';t expecting that!

The Spanky 6 is described as ';indestructible'; by the makers.. I beg to differ. After the lamest crash in to soft ground from about 10';, this happened -

It does look nice. I';d like to know a little more about how it';s built though. As in, are all the ESC soldered in like the Gemini? Is the main board an ';all or nothing'; part. Basically, how repairable after a crash or component failure is it?

Spare frames seem to be part of the supply chain in the UK, so that';s a good thing. To sort out this Spanky is going to mean dealings with the USA, which is cost and time.

I';ve decided to give this frame another go and hopefully it will be here this week. Shouldn';t take too much to get it flying, so all going well it will be flying again on the weekend..
