i have a vector on it';s way, and i';ve cut out the plates this evening. my wife thinks they look like coffin tops! i';ve not cut any holes, or slots for battery straps yet, i need to get more parts measured and balanced up so i know where to put the battery. i';ve drilled holes for KK2 mounting which will take a HK power distribution board. if anything needs to be drilled or cut on both, i can fasten them both together with M3 screws. i';ll cut the motor plates next as the holes are standard spacings. pickies will follow sometime.

motors and ESCs ordered. gone for emax, they get good revues. 2213 935KV motors with 1045 props, and 20 amp ESCS. +2 sets of spare props! £96, not bad. motor mounts to cut out next.

started to set up my vector. made up two leads, one video out to phono, and the other, 5 volt tap to RX. a bit late to start setting up this evening.

motors and ESCs have arrived. baught some ally angle from B&Q today for the motor mounts. need to get some nav lights ordered (1 watt LED). motor mounts will have the motors on the long side, near the angle, leaving space for the screws to fix to the arms. the short sides will overlap each other and will be screwed to each other (and set the gap between plates) and pick up the nav lights. i will take some pickies when i';ve got them in progress. i';m a bit tied up with my other hobby ATM, tree removal with the waterway recovery group.

very much work in progress.
general layout.

close up of the plates.

rear arm.

close up of rear motor mount. would have liked lighter section, but ally is light enough any way.

the extra block on each arm is to give 31mm space between plates with decent regidity, it works for DJI, so it should work for me. BTW, both main plates are still superglued together. i';ll part them when i';ve drilled some holes for some additional spacers.

about time for an update.
got the vector mounted, and ESCs soldered to the PDB.

just assembled, no electronics, for an evening meet at robin hood airport. picture from josh murray.

i changed my mind on the motor mounts. they are now G10, with ally spacers which are drilled and tapped for the nav'; lights.

I';d like to see how its flies with the props on like that as well  ::)

Looks like you are going to have yours in the air before me  ~~

i';ll save you the bother of looking closely. the props were just hung on so that people could see the finnished size. the lower ones were on upside down. i';ve made a fixture so that i can use an 8mm milling tool to counter bore the "top" of the hubs so that they will fit the right way up on the lower upside down motors. Emax state that on 3 cells i should get a rated take off weight of approx 2 Kg ( max thrust of 6 motors on 10x4.5 is 4.2 Kg). just made up my tx, (got some 25mW modules, so i';ll use them up), so i should hopefully get it in one piece over the weekend.

well,,,, it';s in one piece now. not tested the VTX, or indeed, mounted it. struggling with the ESCs, need to calibrate and check that i';ve not paused to long on start up and altered any thing. i';ve got a program card, but it isn';t showing any sign of life at the mo. and to top it off, my TX battery is flat, and i havn';t got an adaptor for my wall wart to fit it. the TX was 2nd hand and didn';t come with it';s origional wall wart. any way, i';ll get back to it when i';ve got an adaptor, and pulled the rear arm off for better access to the ESC connectors. :blink

a bit more progress. ESCs are callibrated now.

this should be pretty much flying weight. only missing the double adaptor for the LIPOs.

put the TX on tonight, leveled the switch for flight mode, (wasn';t set at the right level to work properly). tried the no prop tilt. seems right. hopefully i';ll fly it this weekend.

forgot to take my camera today.   IT FLIES!!!!! :frantic: :wack0    :bounce: i haven';t changed any of the settings at all, and it seems quite stable. must take camera next time, and try not to let my hands shake so much, i';m terrible on a maiden, i only took one pair of LiPos, quite enough for my nerves. i';m going to cut my lawn now to relax.
