So if you saw my last post on here you know I made a pair of polarised antennas. I took her out for a range test the other day and it';s not good at all. I would say I got about 50ft horizontally and 50ft vertically before I lost feed. About the same as the stock antennas. The tx is 100mw, could this be the week link? Could I improve the range by moving the antenna to another location on the quad?
Would I be waisting money buying something like a 500mw tx?
Any help appreciated guys. Cheers.

It may help if you could inform us of what band and channel your on the manufacturer of the tx rx etc . I easily get 1km out of my cheap 5.8 250mw vtx
Of course this is also dependant on your flying location etc many factors to take into consideration.

Carbon Tricopter with KK2 mini because you have to own a Tri and Falcon Evo FPV (rebuild again) with fatshark 600mw vtx & pz2040 cam. New addition (hidden from the missus!) 250 quad.

Having your radio RX and your VTx close together can impair the signal also if you have had the VTx powered up with the antenna off can damage it and greatly reduce the range.

Have you got a pic of your setup?

Oh sorry. It';s  Fat shark 5.8g and I was in channel 1 at 5740mhz. Well I think I';m on that channel. The tx has 3 little switches 1-3 and they are all switched to the on position???? Not sure if i am on channel 1 now lol.

Hi,

Looking at your manual if you want Ch1 all the dip switches should be set to OFF.

You said in your post they were all on.
In the manual Dip switch matrix a 1 = on and a 0 = off.

Lol well all 3 of my switches are 111 which is not even an option in the manual. That might be the problem then.  I';ll set them to 000 for channel 1 and try her again. When it';s not peeing down.
