Ive just received my adruflyer 2.5 and thought I might just post a couple of pictures of the board and the copter Im going to install it on as I go along  ~~

All pins soldered in and ready to fit to the 3dr case, I chose the bent pins at the ends because I prefer the connections to come out of the end of the case rather than the top, the case is also available with the connections from the top  ~~

I finished putting my APM2.5 on one of my quad frames and have uploaded the new v2.9 firmware to the APM via the mission planner, I had a quick test fly using the new firmware and it was very stable with default settings but althold and loiter will need some tunung, heres a few pics of the finished install  ~~

Looks good,

There';s some rather special changes in 2.9 for Alt Hold, you need to ensure its vibration free and add anti vibration pads. 2.9 is the first version to use the acceleromters in the Z-axis to hold altitude

Hi Mark thanks for your comments the APM in the picture is mounted on a copper clad plate with some double sided sticky foam tape which is quite thin, do you think I should use something like beastX type pads ? would that be better, having said that when I test flew it with v2.9 the stability was very good on default settings, except for the wind resistance which parameters would increase stability in the wind with out spoiling its current stability ?
The alt hold didnt seem to work very well and just wanted to rise which setting would you suggest to alter for this ?
Loiter was also not to good and just seemed to twitch a bit   ~~

I';m still ironing out twitches in the loiter with mine so when I get it I';ll let you know.

The rising could be due to the barometer or a vibration. Thicker pads seem better, I';m running 3mm gyro pads on anti-vibration mounts.

The tuning for wind depends on the machine itself. Essentially what you want to do is increase Rate_d until you see a wobble starting then back off a little until the wobble goes. Increase Rate_P to get the wobble again and back off a little.  If rate_P was adjusted up by more than a few tenths re-try Rate_D to see if you can get it higher without a wobble.

Then slowly increase I and Imax.  Too much and it';ll flip over. If you do it in flight with ch6 on a small range you';ll feel the difference. There';s no rule for getting I correct its more of a feel  but you';ll know when to back off because it starts to feel unstable.

Thanks Mark I will give it a go as soon as we get better weather   ~~

I have one APM on fixed standoffs with no vibration protection...Arducopter 2.8 and it flies well
My other APM is on double side tape and runs 2.9, looking at the logs, its def suffering from vibration..   I am going to try some thicker neoprene tape, will let you now how it gets on.
