Naza & props

I am really new to multi rotors and haven';t posted since I ordered and built my kit, but have noticed something about props on my TBS disco with Naza; I have been using the stock DJI 10x45 props (which I think are rubbish) and I crashed and broke them, so while I waited for some more (DJI 1038 which are much better and more durable) to be delivered I thought I would try the 8';s which came with the kit. I am running 3s lipos, but I thought I may aswell give it a go. I found the quad a lot easier to control (I was flying FPV) and I was able to go through gates inbetween trees and the thing felt much more stable. The 1038 turned up, I fitted them, and yes the quad is more responsive and I get better battery life, but on the down side I am not able to negociate gates easily, and it seems much more susceptable to a slight breeze.

Is it possible to fit a higher KV motors and use 8inch props with 3s Lipo and improve battery life? Or do I just need to get better a controlling it with 10inch props?

I have a reptile frame and 1000kv motors running 9 inch props..    8 inch would be a bit small for your frame..
I tried 10 inch on mine and it felt lethargic..
Carbon props flex less and deliver more power.. would recommend the Rctimer carbon props (not the carbon filled ones)
To be honest prop size is  sometimes trial and error
What KV are you running at the moment ?

everything is from a standard F450 so the motors are DJI 2212 920kv, on the opto 30A ESCs, and I';m using 3s 4200mah lipos. When I was using the DJI 8" props, it just felt so much more controllable. I am only just starting out and the flying site which is most convienent has a lot of trees and obsticals so it is a bit tricky and needs accuracy. I am only flying in att mode at the moment, I did try in manual and had to switch back sharpish, I think my gains are about right, I tried the adjusting them up till it oscillated, and then back a bit. I found the 10" props gave the quad better performance (faster lift, faster flight), but it seemed more difficult to control.

I';m not sure my FPV stuff would handle a 4s lipo, otherwise I would give that a try with 8" props. Which is why I was thinking about higher KV motors instead.

I used 8" apc props on my f450 and a 4s 4000mah then I used a 3s 900mah for fpv gear :) I tried 10" 9" and 8".. The 8" suited my purposes best.. (Steady flying fpv)
