Numpty here has bought both TX LHD and RX RHD antennas  :slap:(or it that the other way round) for his FPV, didn';t check Banggood description or pictures.

Never mind they still work ~200m on my little walk around the field.
But the question is are they going to effect the range I can get?
Would I get better if the were matched?
Also what is the general convention for LHD and RHD?
I';d assume RHD would be the same as a normal screw.

they might work out cheaper though! one crash with a chinese mass produced skew planar ended up with it looking like a mushroom. gavs have withstood far more abuse and not bent at all. made from mig welding wire i think. don';t worry gav i';m not after a discount, me and a couple of friends have started building our own! not as nicely finished as yours so far but working great.

';flyinghippy'; makes mine(and his) a good tip is to put something over the end that doesn';t hurt radio signals, we tried ping pong balls but they break so currently we have kinder egg middles on our skews lol, he cuts a hole in the bottom half and puts over the wire and then just pops the top on when done, encasing it completely. I haven';t destroyed one since using the ';kinder method'; (and I destroy a lot of skews normally).

To test whether things will be radio transparent or not flyinghippy tries them in the microwave for a bit, if it comes out warm/hot it soaks up radio energy, if cool then it';s cool :cool:

Have you considered Airflow golf balls rather than table tennis balls, as they are basically indestructible.

For all you non golfers (like me) http://www.amazon.co.uk/PGA-Tour-Flow-Practice-Balls/dp/B009SM6S6Q

Thing is with the cheap ones I don';t mind finding my limits and doing this to my kit. My quad and a tree had an argument, the tree won  ::)

I';d be more cautious with quality / more expensive kit.

Well that was a time well spent.

I took the TX apart and reworked it from RHD to LHD to match the RX.

Bingo range test go me to the other side of the playing fields with the TX stuck in the car.
Must be getting on for 400m before I ran out of field, much better than before.

happy bunny ::)
