Naze32 seems a bit wibble

I';ve finally got round to building my qav250 frame with overcraft pdb, it';s fitted with emax 12A esc';s and DYS 1806 motors. I';ve put a naze 32 fun fly flight controller on it and tried to configure through cleanflight, not sure where I';m going wrong but motors 2 & 3 won';t throttle up fully through the tx after esc calibration and values slowly decrease. I also tried a short flight but the quad is pulling to the left even after adjusting the trim via the tx.
I';ve tried resetting and starting from scratch but still getting the same issues, has anyone got any ideas where I';m going wrong on this?

Can you check that none of the mounting screws touch the motor windings?

Do the motors "feel" the same compared to the others when spun by hand?

Is it possible you inadvertently "programmed" the ESCs when you calibrated them?

Did you calibrate the Accelerometer?
Does the quad on the screen mimic your quad when you move it by hand?

Hi thanks for the quick replies.
The mounting screws didn';t appear to be touching the motor windings but I have just swapped them for slightly shorter ones to be on the safe side, all the motors feel the same when turned by hand. I haven';t got a clue with regards to possibly programming the esc';s, I calibrated them from a YouTube video.

Yep the accelerometer is calibrated, I';ve turned the fc 90 degrees and adjusted it according yon cleanflight so that the quad mimics the screen.

I';ll get it plugged into the laptop in the morning and see if it was the screws that were the problem. I';ll keep you posted.

I haven';t got a clue with regards to possibly programming the esc';s, I calibrated them from a YouTube video.

The ESCs can be programmed by using the throttle stick';s up and down position at certain intervals indicated by beep tones from the motors.  Sounds convoluted, and it is.  This can easily happen if you';re not fast enough during the throttle calibration.  Instead of registering the throttle end points you now have entered programming mode and any further throttle movement "programs" the ESC.  Been there and it confused the heck out of me.

One of the programming options for the ESC is low voltage protection.  If the battery';s voltage sags under load those misconfigured ESCs could decrease the motor output.  Can you confirm this happens straight away even with a fully charged LiPo?

I';m not saying this is what';s happening but it';s worth considering.  But before you descend into the madness of stick based ESC programming I';d try and rule out everything else.

Quick way to check if it could be ESC programming is to swap the ESC wires on the Naze, i.e. swap 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.  If you then do the throttle test and now motors 1 and 4 are slower you know it';s not the Naze.

Esc';s can be calibrated all at once through cleanfight and output can also be checked through cleanflight.

They can be, indeed, and I would have suggested it when it turned out to be the problem.  That, or to buy the programmer, which I now consider a must-have tool.

I also tried a short flight but the quad is pulling to the left even after adjusting the trim via the tx.

Don';t trim from your TX. remove all the trim from the TX and see what mid values you are getting for pitch and roll in CF configurator. Take the middle of these values and

set mid_rc = 1520

Then adjust the trim on the TX to that it matches the mid point.

If it is still pulling to one direction after that then CofG might be off towards that side. Or

Sorry for the slow reply, I';ve just had the joys of a house move.
I ended up doing a full reset and starting again, I also made the adjustments in cleanflight as suggested by atomiclama and it seems to have done the trick. The only problem now is I';m going through props like they';re going out of fashion[emoji35]
