biggest battery on f450?

I currently have 2x 2200mah 3s lipos and looking at getting a bigger battery to get longer flight times

Can I go 5000mah or even 5500mah or are these just too big? And will getting a battery that is this big double my flight time? (as they are more than double the capacity)

Airwave45

I';m running 4s 5000mah batteries (I had 8 of them kicking around from a 3d lectric plank that is under repair) they are quite geriatric LiPo';s and show max 20c rating)
The 450 is a bit asthmatic with those on board, they are heavy and not particularly punchy batteries.
Flight times are in the 15 minute range (depending on hooliganism levels)

Your flight times will not double as you double the capacity of your batteries as you are significantly increasing the All Up Weight..
This increase in weight leads to an increased power demand for the same performance.

But you will get longer flight times and significantly more sluggish performance, especially in climb outs.

It';s worth noting what the weight of the 450 is with this battery onboard, Mine comes in at 1.6kg. I think if it gets towards 1.8 it';s going to start to struggle with initial take off and climb outs will be sloooooow.

less weight = more performance. = less duration
more weight = less performance = more duration.

batteries are dirt cheap, get a few and play, see what suits you.

I used to fly a 4000mAh 3s on my 450 with 1000kv motors and 9x4.7 props and got 15 minute flights without gimbals etc. Obviously your setup will determine what you can lift. Having said that 2x2200mAh batteries in parallel will be lighter than one 4000 mAh and have more juice in them.

Doubling your battery capacity will not double your flight time as the bigger battery weighs more and that weight needs lifting ~~

I run a 5000mah 3s battery on mine.  Stock blades and motors and I can get 15mins out of mine and it has the zenmuse 3d attached, 5.8Ghz 200mw video link and a gopro hero 3.

Ditto,450 quad  10x4.5  carbon props .2213 935 kv  motors.  5000/3 cell
This seems to be the  optimal set up for F.P.V.  at moderate speeds, start carving up the sky and the time drops  quickly.
Any more  weight makes the quad mushy.
