FPV kit for a QAV250 clone ?

Hi Guys,

As a few of you maybe aware I';ve bought a QAV clone kit which consists of

Carbon frame
Emax 1806 motors
Emax 12a esc
PDB
CC3D fc
Flysky T6 tx & rx

Anyway at some point in the very near future I want to add FPV gear to my quad. I know the mobius seems to be well liked by you guys.  I';d like to keep the spending down so can you guys recommend all the kit needed to setup and the costs involved.

Thanks in advance

I';ve spec';d a Sony 600TVL and Boscam VTX.  However, I have a Walkera iLook which is a GoPro form factor camera with a built in VTX.  I am going to try mounting this first before going down the Sony 600 Route.

I have seen some great footage from the Mobius cameras though.

keeping it cheap... £66 everything you need only 1 left in stock

Obviously as it';s so cheap its not going to be the best but is it any good? Have you got this kit or tryed it before?
I don';t  want to risk going to cheap and risk wishing I';d spent more on better kit.

xxpitt

Nope not tried it sorry. No matter how much you spend you will always want better. Well I do anyway. Sure some people on here have them as passenger goggles. Sure they';ll pipe up soon

deano

ive got the goggles. got them as to try fpv before spending loads on goggles for the price i dont think you can beat them

As goggles they do work, despite the price they';re quite immersive.

You will end up playing about with the lenses to get an image you are reasonably content with but for the price you have to compromise a bit.

Though I have fatshark now it is easier to use the screen out of the HK goggles for fiddling about with a build (was reflashing the osd earlier and it was easier than sliding goggles on and off)

Fatshark all the way!  (just waiting for some kind geeks to produce some ';affordable'; HD goggles/downlink).

Also, been thinking about the Foxtech 3D setup, it';s not HD, but 3D could be the next best thing, in terms of being immersive.

Get the quanum kit! Look like me! I have tried some of the new v2 skyzones and tthey are a lovely bit of kit but worth £200+ more than the quanums? They';re not as immersive as the quanums but they are a fair bit nicer to wear  and transport. Thing with the quanum kit as others have mentioned is that all the bits are useful in the future if you do go and buy some pproper goggles down the line. win win really cos you really wouldn';tbe ddisappointed with the fpv experience from the techno shoebox as my friends call it. You might be disappointed with fatsharks/skyzone/boscams. ..

Im finding hard work to get used to the Fatsharks, i really feel to "cut off" its the being "blinkered" im struggling with, so atm, doing something similar to Teslahads Monitor Helmet, so i can look sideways if i need to, so far, though after trying both Monitor and goggles, the Monitor feels easier to use, i think it will be a long time befre im used to the Fatsharks, who knows,, may never be.

This rings very true with me.  I bought a set of Predator V3';s the very first time I flew and I just could not cope with the blinkered view, especially as I was learning to fly the thing at the same time.  I am OK with a monitor, as it permits the best of both worlds.  Maybe give goggles a try later.

Having tried a monitor when I first started out I can say in all honesty goggles are much better, they are weird at first as you are ';enclosed'; but that soon wears off and they are by far the best way to go IMHO. I have looked through a quanum monocular thingy and that wasn';t bad at all, not as good as the fatsharks but perfectly usable, I think the main thing is all the light that is not from the screen is cut out so you can quite simply see better, and it gives the more immersive feel.I wouldn';t use them without a spotter(unless absolutely sure no one is coming near(i.e on your 1000 acre private estate lol) as you are ';shut off'; from what';s going on around you.
A 40" tv might be good though

Nice and portable.

Obviously you would need a luxury camper van to carry it in for the ultimate fpv in comfort

Yeah, that';s the spirit!  How about an open top camper so you could just sit in the back and fly!  Flip it into loiter mode and make a cup of tea.

One thing to remember though is that you are using two 5.8GHz ';channels'; so those using this 3D kit may not be too when it comes to flying in groups :(

Think I';ll be investing in goggles as soon as funds permit.

I';ve been thinking about using a Boscam TR1 in my QAV250 clone, This looks like a very nice little system, I';d upgrade the aerial and modify the frame to fit it in.

Has anyone used the boscam tr1? What are your thoughts on it?
