Hi. Having got away with a couple of cheap and cheerful ebay quad builds I';m looking to build a tarot 680pro. However I';m really struggling to decide on motor, esc and prop specs. I';ve already sorted a new frame kit and naza m V2 for it. Ideally I d like to use existing lipos 3s  2200 or 6s  3000 as I have 6 or 7 of each for existing helis. I realise that I';m going to have to double up for reasonable flight times but will upgrade eventually. Was looking at dji e600 for simplicity (cost not great)but what other options would you suggest?

Thanks

Ive got a set of RCTimer HP4108 720kv  motors made with quality Japanese bearings  for sale. These come highly recommended. They cost me £170 ish for the lot. Im open to offers.

I also have -
RCTimer NFS 30A simonk esc';s x 7 (one extra spare)  and Tarot 12x3.8 Carbon fibre props X 3 pairs which cost me £49 and £24 receptively (also open to offers)
Cheers

Friskle

If you can, i would suggest T-Motors, they are simply damn good motors, and accompanied by the T-Motor carbons, are a match made in...well you get the idea :)

on my Tarot 680 pro im using
Sunnysky 3508 700kv
hobbywing platinium pro esc';s
rctimer 12x5.5 carbon props.

runs on 4s 5,000mah or 10,000mah

this setup works really well. If i was to do it again i would go for lower KV motors

This is similar spec to what I';m currentlu ordering except undecided on either EMAX 600 or sunnysky 380/580 motors.

I have been messing around with ecalc today, You dont need 40a escs on any of these motors.

The tarot 4006 620kv on 4s will pull around 5.3a on hover and a max of 23 amps each (all up weight of 3.6kg)

The above is similar using sunnysky 3508 700kv on a 12x5.5

Then sunnysky 3508 580kv on 12x5.5 at 4s shows 5.5a on hover and 16a max

Thanks for that paul. So 30 amp esc is good. Would you go with the rc timer opto as suggested earlier or would you have any other suggestions? Motor wise are there any major benefits to any of the ones suggested

Paulham

I suppose the differences between motors are peoples past experiences with the different motors. Some may have better quality bearing, windings may be neater. And you get people recommending what they have, which is a good thing.

Regarding ESC choice. I got the Hobbywing 30a opto esc with integrated bullet connectors. You can make a nice clean 680 build with these. you do not need to worry about flashing any firmware on to them, everyone who gets them has not issues.

Only thing that bugs me is that if the ESC doesnt have signal (like on the pixhawk before you press the safety switch, the ESC';s beep constantly, not loud, just annoying)

Altus

The only reason I';m going 40A ESC is that Hobbywing doesnt do a 30A (in xrotor series) and also I want plenty of headroom should I go for a heavier lift build at a later date

stuartg1

Great. Hobbywing optos it is then. Frames here, nazas on the way so better get my finger out and sort the rest of the bits

Thanks

stuartg1

Silly question but where would you suggest for esc. Cam only find helipal stocking them!! Thanks  again
